It's OK Shelby . . . You can create the "Racquet Club Resort Invitational" and invite your favorite tennis players and influencers . . . . When reporters ask you "What was your 'motivation' for creating this new tennis tournament?" You can look straight in the camera lens, and say, "Jealousy"

It seems like an interesting problem. We watch you because you are you, and you lead a life typically different than ours. But you are relatable. When you take next steps - buy a house, fix up a house, build Joshua Tree - we will all be there. There's something pretty cool about just living your life and being able to make a living doing that! Maybe KZbin just has silly algorithms and in the long run, you just need to sustain and not have to blow each video out of the water. I hear others I follow saying the same thing. I'm sad if it means you feel you have to change what you're doing... but, for now, thanks for being here making videos😊

I think a niche for a series might help with the algorithm stuff, but I love that you explore different topics. I feel like it may help to package your video into a story that strangers can grasp if they haven’t watched you before - the whole short form game of giving a story context at the top of the video seems to be something affecting long form too. For example, the way Ryan Trahan sets up the story or mission of each video concept.

Have you heard of the polish electric yacht company, they also have sailboats. Just buy a small plot on a lake, maybe near Shasta, Yosemite, or Washington, and build a camper garage covering where you can park the airstream, and build a small slip or dock to park the boat with a boat ramp and guests can park their RVs or rent the airstream, and you can rent it out on Airbnb. A lot of people do this style of camping, especially fisherman. If the garage has solar, and the campground has good features that are niche, it would do well. Campsites have very little maintenance

My roommates and I back in college used to play tennis ALL THE TIME. We started out just with our walmart rackets and like two cans of balls and overtime we ended up with a shit ton of balls that people just leave around the court or too lazy to pick up because they hit the ball too far. We would hit the ball too far and of course we always went to chase down the balls and the more we chased the more we found. Near the end of our playing together I think we damn near had like 4 walmart bags full of balls. Some were mid but most of them are still pretty good. I mean we weren't playing to win but we just really enjoyed playing volleying back and forth. None of us could serve well but we could still hit the ball into the right area as a server and play hours and hours and hours. Back when we didn't have any responsibilities.... good times.

Shelby, that just seems so wrong that a brand didn't ask you to represent them at the Open, because you are so passionate about tennis!! I truly believe everything works out in the end for the best, so maybe there will be a silver lining to this. 😃❤ I've never heard anybody besides me say they have a hard time sleeping because they are excited about the next day. I totally relate to that. Take good care of yourself though, sleep is so important. Regarding your videos, maybe rather than new ideas, what if you tried a slightly different style? More like story-telling (or the overused word "cinematic.") It requires a lot of pre-production work and can take longer to film and edit, but can have a great outcome with a lot of views. Just an idea. I always enjoy your videos.

I don't know how popular these events are nowadays but when I was playing tennis there used to be Pro-Ams where you partner with a "professional" in doubles at certain country clubs or venue and play a field of others like teams. Professionals could be known or just local coaches. Not sure how it all works or if they still exist but that could be something fun to do with your tennis to take it to another level of social and competition? Even something you could organize yourself with a brand/club group of people? There is prizemoney involved so normally something sponsored.

Understand that feeling of jealousy. That re-frame is a good way to think about it. You're going to Indian Wells which is awesome and maybe you can go to Wimbledon or the US Open next year. Plus, as a former NYer trying to get out to the US Open from Manhattan (crammed on the 7 train or stuck in traffic on the expressway) isn't fun at all even if you leave early. Plus it's so hot and humid sitting outside in the stadium too.

I was born n raised in Alaska, the Inlet which is what AK is because the Pacific Ocean pours into it and doesn’t leave. But my family were commercial fishermen so being in the open seas is very dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing! And hauling people commercially you flat out can’t leave the harbor if you don’t have a charter license.😊 Maybe do a sail boat & have sunset sales. You would still need a captain but it might be a lucrative business 😊

Regarding your channel performance, I remember you mentioning a few months ago that you were going to update your channel graphics/branding. I still think that might be worth doing. I think like a lo-fi cute graphics with cowboy, you playing tennis as well as other interests of yours would look good (and I think would perform well). As far as the algorithm goes, I think you are right, YT tends to prefer that you stick to one "theme", so I've always wondered how a shorter version of your vlog videos would do on your main channel. Instead of making it like a bunch of clips pasted together chronologically, I think telling a story with that is interesting to you for that week (i.e. buying a boat, getting your real estate license, etc) would be beneficial. In other words, you are the theme, the only thing that changes would be the story that you are telling about your changing interests. Just some food for thought.

When you get your real estate license, I think you should focus your channel on renovating and flipping houses, Airbnb's, boats, etc and touring crazy buildings. You could add a bit of travel in it. The best performing videos on your main channel are usually house related since you stopped doing make-up. There's your niche. Also you have a nice voice for commentary. I'd say create a third channel for video essays like you were doing on your main channel before. That channel should be strictly video essays/commentary. And that can also be your podcast channel. You can repurpose the voiceovers there for your podcasts. Two birds with 1 stone.

Regarding videos with low views, I think it could be as you said - them having too wide range of topics. I feel like I have specific people I watch for different things. It gives me comfort somehow that person X always does Y kind of videos (interviews, vlogs, true crime, etc etc). I feel like the more I hear a person talk about topic X, the more I want to see about topic X from that person. I get a feeling like I get to know them better, and that they become more and more credible. Hard to explain, I guess it is subconscious in humen to categorize people like that, and I think it is advantegous as content creator to adjust your content according to that fact, as well as to other behaviour patterns humen have. Also, I would guess youtube itself don't prioritize recommending your videos of various topics, if there exist other creators whose videos are always about your topic for the day. And finally, I know you like making content about houses, tennis, and cool companies. I would guess such topics might be too specific for many people, hence you might only get some views. If you stick to one topic, your subscribers would eventually consist solely of people with that interest, hence more views on every video. Best wishes, I really enjoy following you! 🎉

The thing in my opinion that would really take your tennis content to a new level would be to make it more local to involve local brands clubs etc maybe give them a little sample of what g their presence in your channel could do for them also do include affiliate links cause results from that can mayorly asist in pitching but more than all of that tennis is a glamour sport nd I think they want to sell it as the lifestyle that is classy and fun and all that so when you do a vlog with tennis I think for them its not the relatability but rather the pleasantries of the who tennis ritual and to appeal to a richer demographic
