I'm glad you're safe and I hope life will be back to normal very soon. In Germany we had a terrible flood in my area two years ago. People died and many lost their homes. In a lot of places you can still the the traces the food left behind. Seeing your video brings back a lot of memories!

Thank you. We were very lucky but I think it will take a while for some to get things back to how they want. Storm water is so devastating. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment

Glad you made it through the storm, and hopefully the village didn`t suffer any severe damage. When "Babet" reached us it had lost much of it`s intensity. Take care my friend.

Thank you Arnstein. Everything seems to be back to normal apart from a few unlucky peoples homes and property that was damaged by high water levels. There was just too much water in such a short time that it couldn't drain away naturally and everything was overwhelmed. We were lucky.

Good to hear you weren’t to badly affected! I’m over from Australia for a couple of weeks visiting family in Wickham Market, we were in Framlingham and Easton two days before the storm hit. Can’t believe the place was flooded just afterwards. Haven’t had a chance to use my portable rig to get M31 while I’m here, but hopefully will get another clear sky before we go back. Fingers crossed the water subsides and the locals can get dried out soon! Cheers and take care.

Glad to see you've got through it relatively unscathed Glen, it's been a rough couple of days. The red alert has only just been lifted up here in Aberdeenshire. I live on a hill in the countryside so flooding was less of an issue but 75mph winds and driving rain were a major problem. A couple of people in the area lost their lives unfortunately which is always sad to hear🙁
@Astrobloke
@Astrobloke Жыл бұрын
Hi Pete. You guys had it much worse than us. Think I read up to 200mm of rainfall in the same period as our 79mm. The wind was not as bad here either. I only heard of one elderly person who died and that is very sad indeed. Glad to hear you are ok too. I had to check with my Uncle who lives near Banff, they were ok thankfully.

Wow, Glenn, had not heard about your storm over here in the states. Glad you made out all right - all be it with a close call. Best of luck to your village's recovery and safety. I did not have much doubt about your workmanship in your observatory surviving a storm but floods can overwhelm anything. Take it easy.

Glad to hear everything survived ok and no flooding occurred for you. Seems that there is a lot of this sort of thing going around - I know we got hit here in NZ near the beginning of the year with massive amounts of flooding and multiple deaths so it's certainly no small thing. Glad all went as well as possible. Water IS the enemy. Make sure to fill your sump reservoir every other month or so to be sure the float, relay, impeller, etc are working and lubrication warmed up and moved about. You DO want it to work next time.
@Astrobloke

Water is certainly a destructive force. Thanks for the tips and I will make sure I keep it all working and maintained. Its set up to operate whenever we get rain so that should help keep it working and not seizing up.

So glad you made it through relatively unscathed. Just goes to show how good your construction work is. I love what you do and share with the community. I have a weird question for you. Would you have a way of getting in touch with Joe, Joe's Astrophotography? I am automating my roof, have all the gear but need a few changes made to the code and I have no idea how to change it. I have been into the Arduino discord channel asking, but because there are several pieces of software involved, they don't understand what I am trying to do. I even pointed them to your channel. I figured that since Joe gave you a hand with yours, he may give another astronomy geek a hand. If you have a way of getting in touch with him, great, if not, no worries.
