It kinda sounds like it's muffled or underwater. I like how it sounds but I'm not surprised the Tuba took over

I see why composers did not write much for the clarinet in it's early days.

I did not feel that this was authentic French sound as those lower notes had a very Flemish accent to them - probably because the bubinger wood was grown in the Belgian Congo as is common. Also, I could not help but notice some Spanish influence in there also, but altogether a very cosmopolitan flavour and so well suited for any continental orchestra. 😅

Fascinating challenge composing for historic instruments with a modern influence. And that spelling of ‘favorite’ is technically illegal outside the USA🙂

What do you do? Little oboe double cane reed: Oh me? Of my 16 friends, I get to play the counter melody in the second movement of the one piece…specifically in the concert hall in Leipzig…in the spring…when the humidity is below average… What do you do? Little contrabassoon double cane reed: (plays CØ)

Wonderful point made here. In an attempt to be more “tolerant” of people’s intricacies and diversity, we become intolerant of anything that we believe would bother someone. Most of the instances in which this takes place are done on someone else’s behalf, and almost never our own.

Guys, you're playing that beautiful composition without any feeling. It comes across as a bunch of Just Good Enough students, close to coming into their prime, and barely familiar with the material. I'm a subscriber and fan, but this was far from what I was expecting.
@jennyjohn7048 күн бұрын
You'd think a reputable orchestra could get the title of a piece of music right, but no. This is Air from Suite 3 by Bach. Air on a G String refers to an arrangement of it for violin and piano in which the violin part only plays the G string. Come on guys, make the effort.
@sandragoodey4348 күн бұрын
Maybe the more familiar, colloquial title was used to encourage a wider audience - it’s like wedding couples who ask for Pachelbel’s Canon or the Trumpet Voluntary - I know what there’re asking for…..

I wish people wouldn't call this Air on the G String. This is the Air (second movement) of Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068. Air on the G String is an arrangement of this by August Wilhelmj (in 1871).
@americanswan7 күн бұрын
I understand, but g string gets more attention and views.
@Lucius_Chiaraviglio6 күн бұрын
@@americanswan That's not a good reason for misnaming the composition, especially for a group that does historically informed performance.
