I've been producing on and off since I was 14 years old. I'm now 28 years old and no matter what, producing full-time has always been my dream. Whenever I'm not producing or pursuing music to some degree, I feel guilty. Literally guilty. I feel like I'm waiting such incredible potential and feel so unfulfilled. Its just so hard to survive and pay for basic needs with a full-time job and also balance music production because I'm always mentally exhausted. I'm trying to figure it out. Great video man, good perspective.

i can confirm, i have had multiple moments of core concepts just clicking overnight. i think that's part of the fulfillment of this career, the fact that your hard work and practice finally paid off somehow and i have had tried to quit in the past, but music is just too ingrained in who i am. i think part of why we try to quit is less to do with the actual music and more to do with everything else; the reaction your uploads are getting, your attitude towards your own skills and abilities (whether you think your own music sucks), etc great advice!
@ModestIntentionsАй бұрын
For me trying to quit was also a form of resentment lol. Not the best thing to based your decisions on, right?

GOAT, I cannot recommend Modest Intentions services enough, not only is he a great producer and teacher, he is also a Stoic philosopher that will help you untangle your creative boundaries and challenge your idiosyncrasies. Cheers, John Jonko

GM☕️🍩 I just came back from Toronto’s Audiofest…tho it was for the most part about the exotic gear …I go to hear new and interesting music ..yes..there’s always the “song of the show that everyone uses for demonstration “..this gets boring..but a few times you a piece of music that makes you stop ..and you realize ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC. For me it’s Patricia Barbers Too Rich For My Blood and Elvis’s Fever …just fucking WOW.. Oh,btw try the AUDEZE CRBN2 headphones 👍 Take dare and have a great week 🍻

You're the realest hidden gem of DNB! ❤ By the way guys, if you struggle with writing melodies in general, there's an option which Martin mentioned already. For example, if you make a simplest chord with 3 notes, FL Studio automatically detects what key and scale you're using, because there are a lot of different scales, not just minor and major. But there's even more effective method, I use this method all the time and it improves my workflow a lot and I hope it helps someone as well: 1. Click on the little arrow on the left side of piano roll window, where all the other icons are located 2. Click on "Helpers" > "Scale highlighting" 3. Now select your desired scale and root note, because it's "Automatic" by default 4. Voilà, now you have a solid reference point, which notes you can use for your melody and it doesn't change, until you change the scale or the root key
@ModestIntentionsАй бұрын
May be good in the beginning, but I see many people stuck because of this approach. You are absolutely forced to rely on this unless you get more comfortable with coming up with melodies yourself
@fruobelzyАй бұрын
@@ModestIntentions I agree. It helps a lot if producer is a beginner and their ears are not trained enough. It's quite easy to mess up the melody, even if one note is out of the scale and the person might not even notice it, because he doesn't have enough experience and any reference point. It's not like it writes a melody for you, it just makes everything less complicated and saves a lot of time, for me personally. Also, this method has helped me to understand music theory more in depth, how scales work etc, without actually learning it. Might not be the best method for everyone, but these kind of features are there and for a good reason - to make everything less complicated! :)

Add whitenoise to the sound in serum
@ModestIntentions2 ай бұрын
Yes, that too. But.. if your filters are busy with OSC A and OSC B doing something else, you will add a white noise without any filtering, and thus carry a lot of bad frequencies
