Cheesey, grungy, cheap, the motels, cafes, $1.99 breakfast buffet, $7.77 steak and lobster, rows of newspaper machines, just pulling up and parking in front of the casino in the small lots. What I wouldn't give to go back in time and spend a week in Vegas in 1988. Barbara Mandrell, Toni Tennille, Redd Foxx, to name a few. I bet you could buy an 8-ball on any corner, too! It appears only Flamingo and Caesars are still standing as their original names in the video.

Las Vegas looks much less dense in this video. Earliest I was there was in 1990 and is now a faded memory, I just remember seeing a brand new at the time Nissan 300ZX at the strip thinking it was futuristic. I was 14 at the time. All the prices for breakfast are affordable in this video compared to todays hyperinflation in 2024.

“The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers, the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland. And while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checking into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday. Today, it's all gone. You get a whale show up with four million in a suitcase, and some 25 year old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number. After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from... Junk Bonds”.

Wow those where the day’s I would fly from lax to Las Vegas airline ticket’s round trip would cost $ 25.00 would booked a suite for $ 50.00 at the Tropicana stay for 3 day’s. It was great flying in these days no such thing TSA I’ll be in Vegas in about 30 minutes better then driving 5 hours! Las Vegas isn’t the same anymore really sad. The first time I ever went there was back in 1974 I was 14 yrs old all us kid’s could only go to circus circus where they had an arcade area’s and restaurants for the teens and little kid’s. Circus circus isn’t the same Anymore it’s gotten very very dirty. I always see the same softdrink paper cup over at the slot machines area the dust is so thick at least 5” deep. The only good thing there’s no more smoking back in the 1970’s wow it was really bad the smoke 💨 would give me bad allergies from it!

I miss old wall drug they need to being back some of these super old animatronics I remember the Indian scene and the couple with the car but I never saw that piano player. The old backyard was way cooler before they "updated it" should have left it alone. At least the cowboy bands are still there

Much better days in Vegas IMO. Less crime, homeless, traffic, congestion, etc. You could get a really fun and very cheap vacation back then (if you kept your gambling under control). Even as a "low roller" you could get comps for food and rooms fairly often and easily. The points based player tracking cards killed that. It didn't feel like the cold corporate machine designed to milk you for every penny that it's become today. Room rates just go up and up and all the extra fees are nuts. Also, saw that $.73 cents a gallon gas! 👍
