I’m always jealous when I see some collectors editions, but then when I come to buy them I can’t bring myself to spend all the extra money for what often amounts to a load of junk (cards, stickers etc)
@32bitmusician
@32bitmusician 3 күн бұрын
There really are so many editions with a bunch of "junk" added in. Especially recently. As the years have gone by I've bought less and less collectors editions. That's why I haven't really gotten into LRG and other things like that. I usually only fork out the money if it includes a soundtrack, but with editions phasing out those, I may not be getting any!

Oh boy! I definitely understand that! The alt art and misprints are super cool. Especially all of those alternate art discs on Working Designs games. But I'd be completely broke if I got into collecting that, haha! There definitely is something really cool about getting a mint copy of a game. That's something I reserve for really special/sentimental games!

Nice one! Yes, I have high hopes of FE Engage (still have'nt gotten around to it) as I hated the social life things they added to the series. Don't wanna plant the freaking seeds or eat at the cafeteria, have uninteresting tea time with boring characters.. This is not the true Fire Emblem! Don't care too much about the story, honestly could'nt tell you what the ones on the 3ds was about. Still those were the best games in my opinion!

What had the best graphics? How noticeable?
@32bitmusician
@32bitmusician 3 күн бұрын
Most people say the model 1 genesis with the "high definition graphics" on top had superior visual quality, but it isn't really noticeable. At least to my eyes!
@megamanmarchek8293
@megamanmarchek8293 6 ай бұрын
There are actually two revisions of the Model 2 Genesis as well. The more common one has the inferior sound board while the other closely replicates the quality of a Model 1 High Definition Graphics Genesis. You can tell which is which by looking at the vents on the bottom of the console. If the metal plate doesn't extend the full length of the vents then you have a Model 2 Genesis with a good sound board.
@32bitmusician

The PSP and its games are surprisingly sturdy and well built! The screen is plastic so best be sure to not scratch it. Maybe get a screen protector. But I've dropped mine a couple times and it still works like a charm! I've yet to come across any games that don't work... Though it is pretty hard to find a game that is scratched up since they come in those UMD cases. Just treat it like a regular disc and you will be fine!

The Sega CDX is the best itertation of the Genesis and Sega CD in my opinion even though I like all of the iterations. The model 2 is my least favorite. I just wish they threw more effort into developing games for the platform. It had huge potential outside of Genesis ports with redbook audio.
@32bitmusician
@32bitmusician 7 ай бұрын
I really do love the CDX. The only reason it isn't my favorite is due to the somewhat unreliable nature of those lasers. And I completely agree! The fact that there are barely any true RPGS on this system (when compared to the SNES) is a crime. Even though it was as popular as it was, I feel like they still could have done a lot more with the game library!

I just love how unique the games are compared to most consoles i got mine recently this Christmas and got 6 games for it Castlevania dracula x chronicles burnout legends daxter half-minute hero jikandia the timeless land and patapon 2 compared to something like the vita or switch which honestly just feel kinda like home consoles but worse these are very unique and weird experiences that make it extremely worth buying. not to mention its still not too expensive aside from a few games like persona (which i straight up dont even care about these games anyway soooo)

I'll come in with the devil's advocate aspect of things. This was a phenomenal game for the first ten hours. The world building was pretty god damn impressive and the story and characterization got you invested in these characters rather quick. Though the issue comes after that ten hour mark where some things shift around and suddenly the entire game shits the bed with what it was going for, and what it is going to be for the rest of the game. After that as well the combat becomes very, very stale. It's the same animations, same button mashing, but unlike other games that feature such combat (Devil May Cry, hell even the Dynasty Warriors games are very repetitive in combat but you also have dozens of characters to choose from and unlock) there is virtually zero variety in changing up combos and feeling "cool" while attacking the various damage sponges throughout the game. I began this game enjoying it immensely. There is a ton of spectacle and there are certain fights that are just "holy shit this is epic!", but they are few and far between and towards the end even feel tacked on and ho hum just like the rest of the combat. To me Square missed the mark on this game by trying to chase the "western trends" of making "movie games" where you have ten minutes of gameplay beating up cannon fodder, and then thirty minutes of story cutscenes. This is just straight fact. Out of a 40 hour game time (non-completionist) there is over 20 hours of it that are cut scenes or dialogue scenes you can skip. That is not a video game. That's an interactive movie. I sincerely hope that they do not take the series in this direction again. I admire that they tried but all in all the spectacle cannot make up for the slog the game becomes.
