Great video, glad you mentioned the loading times and how they generally are not too bad until later titles. Accidentally ended up with three NGCD consoles recently, plus 6 controllers, of which one needs repair work (faulty inductors diagnosed so far) and 2 controllers need the switches repaired/replaced. The main love for the NGCD over the AES (apart from price) is the excellent CD music compared to the cart versions On the hunt for a CDZ still, but happy to play my top loader and my AES until then :)

Thanks so much! People really made a huge stink about those loading times, which is why I was surprised when I realized they really weren't THAT bad. Maybe people have just gotten so used to the lack of loading times these days! That's a lot of Neo Geo! At this point, I think I might as well get three, too. I'd love to add the U.S. version some day! I've heard mixed opinions about the CD music. I happen to LOVE it. But I'm also a fan of that era of video game music in general. I love both versions! Best of luck with your CDZ hunt! With all the time you save playing your AES, you'll have more time to be CDZ hunting lol

@@32bitmusician in isolation, the music is generally superior to the cart version, but nostalgia is a powerful force and can make it jarring to hear a different track to what you heard in the arcade, regardless of quality. Managed to get the broken NGCD working 💪🏻 was just two failed inductors replaced, though gave myself a big scare when I damaged the trace on one when removing it😬 had to create a bridge with a spare wire, now all good. Another project on the go is repairing a couple of MVS carts. Most will require a thorough clean and resoldering of the chips to eliminate sound issues, but one has damaged pins on the PCM :/ It’s Metal Slug X and it’s the only game that uses this board so need to try and repair the pins or resign it to the parts bin :/

What an incredible, informative, and well thought out video this was done by you 32Bit. I love the Neo Geo CD and all the consoles that are offered for us gamers to enjoy. In fact, when I started my Neo-Geo endeavors, the first unit that I ever purchased from SNK was the top loader NGCD. I purchased it in 2001 used with two controllers and it included King of Fighters' 99. Which happens to be the last official title for the unit to be offered by the company . I still have it in the collection 20+ years later. I posted your video up for you on The Official NEO-GEO Thread for our members and guest to benefit this excellent upload by you brother man. A real pleasure to do so and a great way to enjoy seeing this over and over again for sure 32Bit. Thank you as always and keep up the great work bro. 8^) Anthony..

Thank you so much, Anthony! I love that you've been a part of the Neo Geo ecosystem since the beginning. Not something many people can say these days! You would have been the coolest guy in my neighborhood lol I love 99 as well. I've played it through compilations, but would love to add it to my CD collection one day! And thanks so much for the repost :)
