Thanks for an entertaining video. I was very curious about whether or not that line was connected to the D’aguilar to Caboolture line. Still I would like to see you cover that one also…
@RoaminWithTheRubes10 күн бұрын
Hi Greg, we're really pleased that you enjoyed the video. The Ferny Grove to Dayboro line wasn't connected to the Caboolture Line although I did read somewhere that there were plans to continue that line to Gympie but obviously shelved. We're planning a follow up video covering some details we missed and some other interesting facts. We were also thinking about the Caboolture to Kilcoy line. Thanks for your feedback and support, Joe and Lea.

Do you have a portable loo in the tent beside the camper?
@RoaminWithTheRubesАй бұрын
Hi Colin, yes we do for camping trips. Sometimes in very cold places, or wet weather we will leave the portapotti in the camper overnight. We have a Thetford and it is great, have a video about this on our channel. No odours, no leaks on rough, corrugated roads. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers, Lea and Joe.

Is buddy allowed at the Nat park camp site?
@RoaminWithTheRubesАй бұрын
Hi Steve, Buddy was allowed to camp here at Clancy’s Campground in Benarkin State Forest. A number of State Forests in Queensland allow dogs to camp, but must be on a lead. Emu Creek Campground which is also in Benarkin State Forest allows dogs on lead in the day use area, but not in the campground. My understanding is that dogs are not allowed to camp in any Queensland National Parks. Always a great idea to check when you do your online booking. Not sure what the rules are in other States, but I think they vary. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers, Lea and Joe.

Not a bad intro to UHF CB. There are however lots of really good unofficial radios, that have 10 x the power and all sorts of additional features. There are 80 channels , 40 of which were inserted between the original 40. and older radios had a broader bandwidth which gives better audio quality. To really boost your range you can go as much as 100 watts and that will definitely give you longer range.

Good video, I used to ride a push-bike along the Ferny Grove to Samford section early 60s just after rail closed. Looking at all these projects they were built at a time when we had almost zero tax and tiny beaurocracy. I wonder why we can't afford lines like this any more?

We have thoroughly enjoyed hearing stories from the areas in the video. It must have been a bit of an adventure riding along where the track used to be. Went there the other day (16/9/2024). Its good to have history like that and people can learn about it but there isn't much information recorded about coomba falls. Sad place
@RoaminWithTheRubes3 ай бұрын
Hi, and thanks so much for watching. We didn't realise the full history of this tunnel until we visited. We really enjoyed reading all the information boards - it was really interesting to learn that families lived at the site during the construction; it was a real little community. We have also visited Coomba Falls, and did not have any idea of the history, but you made us curious and we delved a little, and totally agree with you, that what occurred here was very sad. You are right, there doesn't seem to be very much information at all recorded, unlike some other massacre sites that are well documented. Cheers, Lea and Joe.

Hi Louise, lovely to hear from you. Yes, we used to travel with duffel bags on the back seat and this worked well until we got a doggie. You’ll work it what is best for your situation after a few trips. We always thought the Hawk layout would be great with children, as the kitchen area can easily be out of bounds if gas stove is on, thus reducing risks to little people. Thank you so much for watching, and we are sure you and your children will make loads of happy memories in your Hawk. Cheers, Lea and Joe 💕

The Armstrong ( creek ) railway station was directly across ( Opposite )about 200-260 meters from the drive way into the Nethersole farm , , the post office was in the still standing farm house and the mail was picked up at the station morning and afternoon train service to Brisbane , than property owners would pick up the mail from the Nethersole farm , I spent much of my childhood school holidays on the farm and would walk with my uncle each day to pick up the mail until the line closed . I remember going on the little red rail motors to Brisbane with my mother, o so young . The rail bridge across the north pine river was used for many years as a road bridge as the road was washed out many times when I was a kid until a new road bridge was built
