Wow. That’s looks like a great job you’ve done on it. I love it.

John, I merely filmed and took photos of this machine, it was restored by a gentleman called Tony Flint who was once a time served Hymac apprentice, yes he has indeed done a superb job, one of around six Hymac machines fully restored by him.

@@1961Jezza thanks for the info Jezza, I have never seen that particular model, I used to drive the 580 + 880’s in another life. Great for nostalgia. Take care.

What a lovely machine! How did you find parts to restore it? The new tracks for example
@1961Jezza5 жыл бұрын
Many of the parts have been newly made the tracks were re-bushed with new pins which took the wear out of them, the trouble was a former owner had removed two pads from each side to tighten up the tracks so two new pads were needed for each side. Naturally these are not available new so new ones were machined out of solid steel, must say they made a good job of them to.

@@1961Jezza Ah, thanks! interesting. How did you do with the hole for the pin? If the pins was worn the hole in the pads should be worn to? I have a Hymac 580 B myself so very interesting for me :)

This machine was originally delivered brand new to Scottish Land's Newcastle depot on 09/03/1963 she is not machine no6 but probably the only fully restored example at this time, although Hy-mac apprentices did restore a 480 that was a 'gate guard' at Rhymney works for many years.
