It is nice that this back uses all of the area of the Instax film, but I chose the NONS back instead because I do not want to remove the focusing screen and set it up with the additional frame with the focusing screen inserted. If you shoot film and Instax at the same time, this Instax back solution will slow you down because of the focusing screen issue. Also, the 60 CF lens is an important lens in my toolbox. Bummer.

Good insight on fast pace on location model shoot professional video! Mind sharing a bit more info on how the above 6:15 video "swing away" 3-D printed 645 viewfinder works well for you on the A16 film back and does it have magnifier built-in and and what magnification and can it also work on PM45 or only on PM90 viewfinder aswell as available for purchase? I have a similar 503CW setup with PM45 and no the winder. Subscribed. Thanks.
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you for your comment! In this video, I am using the PM90 with a magnifier attached to the viewfinder. I had quite a hard time to find this accessory but you should be able to find it on the internet with a bit of digging. Without that magnifier, I would have a hard time focusing on subjects that are far away from me. I’m 90% sure that this magnifier would work well on the PM45. You’ll just need to check online if the diameter of the PM45 viewfinder is the same as the one on the PM90.

these are beautiful! if you don't mind sharing, how do you get your final prints to be so warm/ have that orange glow?
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I absolutely don’t mind sharing. :) Shooting at Golden Hour helps tremendously to get warm colors. On top of that, using Portra helps at getting warmer skin tones. In the darkroom, I don’t use techniques such as pre flashing. I just manipulate the colors with the enlarger and push the prints colors towards red/orange. Hope that helps!

Lol why should he be telling you what it is? Hes already showing alot by doing a full coverage of his shoot ie how to communicate with the model / what light he was shooting under etc. Not all bts videos have to be information heavy
@hwanlee9874 Жыл бұрын
When you film shoot, do you shoot with regular exposure or with 1 or 2 stop of aperture open?
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
In this particular shoot, I shot everything overexposed by 1 stop. To do that, I put my light meter one stop slower than the film I use. For Portra 400 I would meter for ISO 200. For Portra 800, I would meter for ISO 400. However, there are times where I would change my way of metering depending on the lighting situation. I would advise you to just experiment and use your experience to make the best judgement for your needs :)
@valentinaconcordia3204 Жыл бұрын
Hey@@mathieurabary, loved the video and shots. Can I ask if you then developed these -1 stop, or developed as is at 400 ISO? Thank you!
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
Hey Valentina! Thank you for your comment :) I developed the film normally. I compensate for the overexposure in post production either on the film scan or in the darkroom. In this instance, I brought down the exposure of my film negatives in the darkroom. Hope that’s clear!

A couple of other questions: Can I use ND filters together with the Vinstax lens filter? And what is the point of selecting more than 2 lens filters in the shop? If I have many different lenses with different focal lengths?
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
You definitely can use ND filters, you will just need to put the close up filter on top of it in order to keep the close to infinity focus. The lens filters are different between each focal lengths that’s why it’s necessary to indicate which lenses you own or plan to use before ordering.
@HiMyNameIsMartin Жыл бұрын
@@mathieurabary Won't the focusing get changed if I put the close up filter on top of the ND filter? Since the close up filter will then move further away from the focal plane.
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
Very good point! I think in this case you can put the ND filter on top of the close up filter. I can ask the producer how it would work but when I asked him last year he told me it was no problem to use ND filters with the Vinstax.
@HiMyNameIsMartin Жыл бұрын
@@mathieurabary Please do, that would be great! Because I guess you can't put a filter on top of the close up filter? Looks like there are no filter threads on the front of the close up filter.
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
Hey Martin, I just asked him and he told me that you indeed needed to put the close up filter first then the ND filters on top of it! However, I checked the filters I own and they don’t seem to have filter threads so I unfortunately cannot try on my end… I also don’t have an ND filter that would fit either 😅

Thank you for always showing up! 🤍 I still love to use my 500cm when shooting square for portrait and environmental portraiture. But the 503cw paired with the A16 back is so good to save film haha. It’s also a lot easier for me to create images for clients since they tend to have difficulties using square images.

sorry I have a question, since that film photos resolution should be higher than your video resolution 1920*1080. Have you meet a situation that the film photos are losing quality after exporting the video? or do you have some recommendation of putting film photos in video and not losing its quality? Thanks in advanced!!!
@mathieurabary Жыл бұрын
Hey Alan! I have never ran into this issue before so I don’t think I can accurately pinpoint what’s yours… I just import my full res images to my video then export as it is and it always comes out nice haha. If that can help, this video was edited using Premiere Pro but my most recent videos are all edited in Davinci Resolve. None of these softwares have affected the quality of my images while exporting.

Hello, Escura proposes an Hasselblad Instax square back, with focus to infinity, frame not inverted and no accessory, but with black borders around the frame and no motor, but way cheaper. I bought one but still wait for delivery :)
@Bogaloo1232 Жыл бұрын
Too bad Escura is a scam that will never deliver the promised product, they’ve been putting a lot of excuses for three years now and the very few backs they’ve delivered have lots of trouble with development of each photo.
