Great review! Very nice to watch. I was on the pursuit of the perfect instant film back for my Hasselblad or Mamiya Rb67, until a Polaroid SX70 came in my way for only $100 bucks and the search was over.

You could buy an actual hasselblad body and finder for $700 easy. Also, won't work with the 500c, no interchangeable focus screens. Glad you can afford to enjoy it though.

So in other words the HassyPB is a better back? No adjustment viewfinder needed, no filter for the lens and also fits the 500C?

Thank you for your comment, Glen! I haven't tested the Hassypb to give my opinion on it but last time I checked they were saying there was a need to compensate the focus depending on the lens & aperture you use. The Vinstax uses a filter + viewfinder instead. On top of that, I'm not a big fan of the fact that all the Instax coming out of the Hassypb are inverted. It might not be an issue for others though!

It is nice that this back uses all of the area of the Instax film, but I chose the NONS back instead because I do not want to remove the focusing screen and set it up with the additional frame with the focusing screen inserted. If you shoot film and Instax at the same time, this Instax back solution will slow you down because of the focusing screen issue. Also, the 60 CF lens is an important lens in my toolbox. Bummer.

Does the 45 degree prism finder fit with the Vinstax attached or are you limited to only using the waist level finder?

Unfortunately it doesn’t work and you’ll only be limited to the waist level viewfinder!

Hello, Escura proposes an Hasselblad Instax square back, with focus to infinity, frame not inverted and no accessory, but with black borders around the frame and no motor, but way cheaper. I bought one but still wait for delivery :)

Too bad Escura is a scam that will never deliver the promised product, they’ve been putting a lot of excuses for three years now and the very few backs they’ve delivered have lots of trouble with development of each photo.

I actually came across their crowd funding a while back but when I saw that there wasn’t any real news, I just moved on. I wasn’t aware about all these issues that that they had… :/

Thank you Anders! 😁 Unfortunately this won’t work… The maker of the Vinstax provides different diopters for any lenses >80mm but he told me that it won’t work for the focal length

Thank you Jack! The machine was turning on but the development button didn’t work anymore when I was pressing it. I think this was caused by the rough handling of my suitcase from the airport bagage crew 😅

A couple of other questions: Can I use ND filters together with the Vinstax lens filter? And what is the point of selecting more than 2 lens filters in the shop? If I have many different lenses with different focal lengths?

You definitely can use ND filters, you will just need to put the close up filter on top of it in order to keep the close to infinity focus. The lens filters are different between each focal lengths that’s why it’s necessary to indicate which lenses you own or plan to use before ordering.

@@mathieurabary Won't the focusing get changed if I put the close up filter on top of the ND filter? Since the close up filter will then move further away from the focal plane.

Very good point! I think in this case you can put the ND filter on top of the close up filter. I can ask the producer how it would work but when I asked him last year he told me it was no problem to use ND filters with the Vinstax.

Hey Martin, I just asked him and he told me that you indeed needed to put the close up filter first then the ND filters on top of it! However, I checked the filters I own and they don’t seem to have filter threads so I unfortunately cannot try on my end… I also don’t have an ND filter that would fit either 😅

Thank you! This filter is a diopter that helps with the focusing issue created by the difference between the focal plan of the Instax back and the normal film backs. Without it, you won’t be able to get accurate focus.
