Great videos on the Ik stuff. I'm thinking about purchasing Total studio 4 max. Now, the product manager no longer has a designated path for sounds intall. I can't find any info on how to install content to an external drive. The 3 dots on the sounds download page are gone. It does have a custom install but no clear info on it. I did read in the ik forum one of the moderators' replies was to install to your main drive, then move to your external drive. 🤦‍♂️ Also, I'm curious if all the V2 versions are installed on top of older versions or installs beside existing versions. Ik multimedia is an install NIGHTMARE.

Not knowing how to do all of what you explained in this video is literally the reason why I uninstalled Kontakt around 8 or 9 years ago lol…meanwhile this video was floating around that whole time! 😅 I randomly found the same old boxed copy of Kontakt 5 in my closet when cleaning my room a few days ago and not only did I get a bunch of free updates from throughout the years that I forgot about it, but there’s also WAY more easily accessible content regarding how to use the software lol. Very thankful I held onto it….unknowingly anyways lol

Thanks for making the video as it's godsend for those if us who have spent several months trying to get this software to work properly. SampleTank and Syntronik are both excellent sounding VSTs but the company has implemented an installation methodology from circa 1995 which has created a lot of unnecessary grief for the end user. Just a casual glance over at the IK Multimedia forums should suffice to reflect this dissatisfaction amongst it's long suffering user base. Yes, we should back up our downloaded content but I can't think of another vendor who charges for the content we have already purchased after 180 days have passed. If the content was easier to install we wouldn't have to pay for the additional downloads required. Similarly, there are innumerable instances of users who cannot get the plug ins to work when the sound content is stored on a drive that differs from the default C drive. I use Presonus Studio One as my main DAW and they have reported the product's incompatibility to IK Multimedia on numerous occasions but the company have to date done precisely nothing to fix the problem.

The volume level has dropped because you're not going through the master channel in BUSES in the VST which like the other channels has effects on it which probably increase the volume. This may be more than just a volume drop, because it's not going through the effects. I was also confused about that until I figured this out. Hope that helps

I could now do this on my MacBook, moved the shared ik multimedia files to external disk, told the sampletank and Syntronik where the new location is (I advice screenshot of sampletank and Syntroniks originally folder paths in the plugin settings, and a full backup before doing it)

Well I tried everything I can but it doesn't show any of your faders. Tried the KZbin Tutorial from daw It ... same. I can select a Midi Port in the Tablet (Samsung Galaxy S6 tab Lite) but as soon as I follow his advices and he says ... and here now you have already a preset.... nothing is on my keys visible in the app. What is going here? :/

The 9$ re-download price is worth paying to me rather than keeping the files... Now, one could get a high capacity thumb drive and put everything on, but keeping them on the hard drive/ssd is not needed to me...

I did a search as I was trying to figure out how to separate the drum kit onto different tracks and your video showed up. First time for me. Well communicated. I’m going to give it a shot after rewatching a couple of times as I have little experience. I’m using Cubase Pro 12 at the moment. Earlier, I duplicated the track and simply deleted everything but the bass drum. This is better . Thank you for sharing.

Came here because im trying to get a feel for IK Multimedia, ive heard good things about their products but no so much with the installation. Do you know if they still install vst you didnt buy? I'm wanting one of two things from them but i have my reservations. Cool video, i may need that knowledge in future.

Thanks! Saved me from having to re-record sections of a track that somehow I deleted. I found the sections by importing a prior version of the song. Good thing I occasionally "Save As" and add another version in case problems arise, just like happened here!

You know, you don't have to go through all that fuss... Now that you've cloned that download folder onto an external drive, just create a shortcut for that folder and drop it into your download folder to replace the one you cloned... Then IK Product Manager will interact with that shortcut but in reality be saving all that stuff to your external drive instead...

Thank you soooo very much, this was extremely useful!! After everything is set up properly and I save the settings for the individual drums going to separate tracks, will it load again for different songs or do I have to assign each drum part to individual tracks every time I start a new project?

Really simple fix for this. Just open another instance of the plugin to play the bars in a different time signature.
