Thanks for the advise. I did not realise the Library manager was actually useful. Next I need to work out if my completed projects will have problems before I move the Groove Agent samples

Absolutely brilliant sir - Excellent & measured delivery of something so very informative and helpful. Believe it or not ... I had spent a day and a half trying to do this (move all Steinberg Content) on my Late 2015 iMac and had googled how to move the said 40 gig or so and all I could actually find was some overly complex stuff pertaining to Symbolic Links via MacOS Terminal - None of which worked on OSX Catalina - even with the Symbolic Linker 2.1 App that I needlessly purchased whilst blindly down this rabbit hole. I had just upgraded from Mojave to said operating system (Catalina) - but then even though I had Cubase 12 Pro working - I discovered (retrospectively - My oversight / glaring mistake) that Catalina wasn't officially supported by Steinberg. Consequently - I have now just upgraded to 'Big Sur' and with your brilliant insight and clearly explained tutorial herein, I am now about to move all content to an external SSD using your demonstration as my main point of reference. Thank you for taking time out to upload your findings. Keep up the great work sir. I just wondered if Steinberg would consider a prompt on install for any further versions of Cubase - asking if you would like to install all content, sound-banks and samples to a non 'C' / 'System' drive location - this would make the margins for getting confused with this and needlessly hogging valuable system drive real estate so much easier.

The Library Manager was also available in Cubase 11 as I used it to perform the same operation as you've described in your video. Great video nonetheless as I'm sure many may not be aware of this veer useful app.

Thanks for that, I could have worked this out for myself, but you just don't know how the files are going to be moved to the other location so this saves time messing around. Now I know how to create a nice neat directory structure and move the content where I want it to be placed. It’s beyond me why Steinberg download assistant doesn’t allow you to set content folders before they download, it’s not great automatically downloading huge content to the system drive. I personally think 500GB is perfect for the system and applications, and large content such as sound libraries etc. should be stored on a separate physical drive. This way the system drive won’t fill up with data quickly and run independently from streaming sound libraries etc. Also, you can backup the entire system to an image file much faster and the image file will be much smaller without all the huge content on there. 🙂

Great! Thank you! I always found my E: folder to be a total mess. And I also never cared about this strange icon that appears on my desktop whenever I update Cubase. I always throw in the trash. I have everything organized quickly now.

Wtf... after spending hundreds of dollars, the library manager will not install libraries due to a wrong helper, using the latest version... "helper?" Really Steinberg... for a flagship software company it is ridiculous, also zero downtime? I spent more than 8 hours researching and found no solutions.. Whats happening with all the software companies and their incompetence lately...
