Slightly above "An Average Rider", I'd say.

I feel the same way between my short travel and long travel trail bike, on the blue and black trails feels much faster on the shorter travel then longer travel bike. Only the double black or really chunky trails does the long travel bike feels faster.

Thank-you for the extensive feedback. I have been on Knolly's since 2007. Two original Delirium-T's, one bought that I broke and the warranty replacement, then the updated Delirium T, the last model 26 Endorphin, a 2nd gen Podium that I still ride with a 27.5 front wheel (Actually Noel's personal final prototype - exactly the same as production except mine does not have the fancy finish on the Ti bits) and finally a Fugitive LT. I want a new one, but more travel, to help with trips that are a bit much for the Fugi, (Just turned 60, so more travel for insurance is not a bad thing) but not enough for the Podium - so thinking Chili 155. However my area is flat and gently rolling forest, (SW Ontario) so more suitable for a new Fugi 140. No local dealer, so no test rides to see if I could get along with the more winch and plummet geo style of the Chili. Decisions, Decisions. Thank-you again, and Good riding to you.

I would lean towards the fugitive 140! I love my Chilcotin but if I didn't have access to the really chunky scary stuff that is ALSO kind of winch and then drop style riding I would definitely feel over biked on the chilcotin. There are some big jump trails that are a little flatter where I actually can only clear lines on the fugitive. I'm sure better riders could make up for the extra squish, but I prefer the pop of the fugitive and it tires me out way less on more undulating terrain. But my Chilcotin is built pretty heavy at 37lbs /16.8kg. I would look hard at the fugitive 140 and run a 160 front fork like a lyric if I could only have 1. Have fun!

@@AnAverageRider I think you are correct that the Fugi 140 would be the best bet. The Chili 155 would probably be too much bike at this point in my life for general riding, however it is nice to have a bit more bike for when your brain writes cheques that your body can no longer cash. Cheers!

👊Yay! another who's obsessed with a Canadian brand (RSD Wildcat, Knolly Warden, and Chromag Rootdown here) in the area. I get ragged on for my Canadian quiver hah. The RSD (125/140) is my daily rig unless I know it'll be a chunky ride or North Shore.

Seem to not find info on the frame weight -- anyone know how much the frame weighs? thanks for review
@AnAverageRider
@AnAverageRider Ай бұрын
I wish I remembered exactly but I was kind of surprised by how heavy it was. I did weigh it and I think* it was slightly more than 8lbs/3.63 kg, but forgive me if I am wrong. That was with an axle, seatpost collar, and maybe headset cups. I hope I'm not way off. Now wearing heavier aluminum wheels and winter tires the build is like 32.5 lbs /14.7kg

@AnAverageRider thank you I have read it's heavy just did not find the actual weight values. Happy riding

I like the 3rd person views you did on occasion. That huge rock slant looked sick from the side view. Btw I have a Fugitive V1 that I enjoy in 120mm mode. Knollys are cool bikes

@@MTKingVR just go. The only thing is you have to be alert and really careful. I had full padding and full faced helmet. I also looked at maps of the area first so I didn't end up at the bottom of a cliff.

I used to go straight down the mountain and make my own trails. Some people think it's tearing up the flora but fun is fun, and most trails are not fun

I’m not sure I’d call 140 “short travel”, that’s just a standard trail bike, I’ve seen people compete (and do well) in local enduro races on those. Sort of thought you were going to be on an XC bike or something lol

I agree. Short travel I would say is 120 mm or below. 140 mm is all-mountain travel.

125 travel in the rear, 140 fork. For me, on these trails, this feels like short travel. As I said, I'm sure there's people out there who could ride this on a hardtail.

Hi good day greetings from Australia, I’m looking into getting the frame and just seeking real world review in terms of height and size frame I’m 173cm 5/7ft with short legs but relatively just long reach I’m wondering if medium would be too long for me? or just go for the small? Your reply and suggestion would be much appreciated, by the way new subscriber here now.. Thank you in advance ..🤙🏽

@AnAverageRider 4 ай бұрын
I think a medium would still suit you. I think for your height I would only favor going smaller if you really really want something super maneuverable, vs more stable. I do feel like even being 178 cm this bike is slightly harder to manual. But it never feels long to me otherwise. It feels spot on and like I'd still choose this size even if I was slightly shorter.

I own a size medium firebird at 6'1 the geometry is very similar to a medium in that knolly hardtail bike. Trying to figure out whether to go with a size medium or large. The large has a 495mm reach which is insanely long. Thinking I could get a similar feel with a MD with a 50mm stem
@AnAverageRider
@AnAverageRider 11 ай бұрын
I think that'd come down to how long and fast vs playful and nimble you want the hardtail to feel. I definitely don't think you'd feel cramped on a medium, especially with a 50mm stem. The 50mm stem on the medium might be a really nice setup to bridge the gap without going fully into the Looong reach on the large size, and you still maintain some playful maneuverability vs the crazy long planted-ness on the large. I feel dead on in the middle of the size range for the medium at 5'10", but also definitely feel like it's a long bike generally.
