Boarding Pistols have a place, they basically replace the light flamethrowers in some profiles and now give us a close range template to Brigadas, very nice. The MB ML now being able to ARO forward and to the backline vs drop troops I think is also a nice boost. Lobos and Diablos going berserk with two troops for extra burst on the FtF CC is very nice for even saving the Diablo losing a wound unopposing (while still being very mobile forward)

Alright you wanted this essay. - Max + Techbee is dodging on 16’s not 15’s. - His Immunity (ARM) basically hard denies all other TAGs preferred way of shooting him sans no EXP rounds for them. The Thunderbolt has better range bands than HMGs. It’s important to think of Max not like a TAG but a HI. - He can comfortably slam into a fair few CC Monsters. The CC Attack -6, NBW and CC24 combined with that Immunity (ARM) and Str. Means only EM CCWs concern him. - Most KCF lists aren’t as SWC hungry as originally perceived. Some builds will be sitting sub 4 swc. Because you have so many Low SWC, No SWC or Pseudo SWC options there’s the ability to do setups which gives you effectively 10-12 SWC. - Banshee - The WildParrot and KHD are the standout profiles. - Black A.I.R hacker - It’s KCF’s only Combat Instinct normal Hacker. Thus the only way without investing in a full Fennec Core to be able to interact with Stealth as a Hacker using that Repeater Network in the midfield provided by Peacemakers. It’s 26pts and 0.5 swc v a Full Fennec Core. - Emily: Is a WIP14 FO who can fireteam. You don’t take her CoC as a CoC is just an incidental CoC. You take her CoC profile for a BS13 X-Visored, Dogged Combi Rifle, Grenade Launcher, EM Grenade Launcher, Nanopulser, Flash Pulse, Assault Pistol for 0.5 SWC. She has all the tools to be a TAG escort specialist. She can clear out all the problems a Squalo or Tik may encounter on its way to its next Target. - One Haris I’m looking forward to testing is Maximus Agent + TA Bipandra + Fennec FO. An Immunity (ARM) NWI B4+1 TB. With a Wip13 Doctor to back him up. And a FO to cordon off some of the really bad engagements for Max. - The RedEye: Not everyone has the ideal weapon and equipment loadout to really negate all of the RedEye’s capabilities. As you don’t get cover already you’re not tied to trying to maintain cover and more interested in denying cover or exploiting Range Bands to maintain the advantage.

Good points re the black air and the banshee, hadn’t considered the combat instinct angle! I’m also coming around in the redeye after using a vehicle in a recent game but still think it’s a bit on the expensive side but the value could absolutely be there I’m still not sold on big Max due to his points cost, I’d be much happier to view him through the lens of a HI if he didn’t cost more than both of your tags while carrying a lower damage weapon with no AP. Additionally I’m not sure little Max’s BS12 enough to cut the mustard but you’re definitely right about big Max’s immunity arm and good CC being pretty huge, we’ll have to see how he shakes out on the table Re Emily, WIP 14 is nice but she’s never gonna have a mission bonus which may be more valuable. I don’t put much stock on a BS 12 combi or the flash pulse with no mods as a TAG escort where I think those duos have better options. The x - visor is cool with the GL and I think that’s realistically the only reason I’d be taking her. Dogged is nice but I think she’s still a bit much for the points Thanks for watching!

I really disagree with your opinion on N5 Kunai ninjas. I think they are great. 28 points for a FD 4" Hidden Deployment Multi Sniper is a great deal. Also, 26 points for the AP + shock marksman is a great deal. One of the key weaknesses in N4 of SWF was the lack of any surprise. People always saw everything you had on the table. Now you have a cheap hidden deploy ARO or attacker to add that element of surprise to SWF lists. Just ignore the CC stats, its not a CC unit.
@InfinityDante5 күн бұрын
Yeah I guess I’m just concerned that even though it’s not a CC model you’re still paying for the stats. I suppose 26 points is still close to a Trinitarian or maglignos which do see a bit of play, albeit in factions that can struggle to put up a traditional hard, ARO so you could be on the money there. Not sold on the AP marksmans rifle but could see it having uses. I guess it’s just a bit rough when you can’t also drag around someone to do the mission in a faction where you have great links that can gunfight just as well. You have sold me on them maybe having a place though!
@AquilaGuard5 күн бұрын
@@InfinityDante Hidden Deploy BS 12 mim 6 is always good and its about what most factions pay for it. The Trinitarians are outliers with how cheap they are. What really sells the unit is the surprise factor. The ability to attack from an unexpected angle is SO valuable for SWF of ALL factions since their key weakness is a lack of any unexpected element. I would absolute give the sniper and marksman profile so games to test them out. They will likely preform well, especally if your opponent doesnt expect any HD from a SWF player.

Think it's worth taking the tikbalang still? Or better to bring the koths/seraph?
@InfinityDante5 күн бұрын
The main issue with a tikbalang these days is the loss of AP makes fighting tags more annoying where you generally want tags to be able to punch up and in their weight category. Running the numbers a tik shooting at a tag with armour 8 and cover in optimal range is doing an average of 1 wound every 2 orders (47% chance to wound), so 6 orders to kill an enemy tag and maybe 1 or 2 extra to clear off the body. A seraph is shooting with at 60% chance to wound per order and a koths is shooting with a 52% so it and the koths are comparable where the seraph has a clear advantage where I would be gravitating towards the seraph. The nerf to climbing plus also hurts. Overall I’d say to take the seraph most of the time if u want a tag with the tikbalang being an upgrade to the koths if you have the pints for it. He’s not unplayable by any stretch of the imagination and he’s still perfectly viable but I think he does get outclassed by the seraph overall
@RattlerNxt5 күн бұрын
The Frenzy impact not being stopped by inclusion in fireteams is really impactful. So the HMG will really have one round of utility. Two Hospitallers joined by something without frenzy is pretty nice looking. I like the FD Montessa a lot. I think there’s enough up field options that the paramedic has a place. It’s so cheap too.
@RattlerNxt5 күн бұрын
The need to climbing plus hurts the Tik and I am glad for the Tik to be nerfed. It wasn’t the iconic tag of the faction and now Seraph really is king of the faction
@InfinityDante5 күн бұрын
I guess for me with the FD montessa I’d rather just take the motorized. If you’re doing second with the montessa 8’ up I’d be worried about getting bricked turn one. Motorized is also able to pivot or reach multiple objectives better too. Very true about frenzy but the issue is that the Hospitallers can’t link with anything else that has a HMG range band. The goal will likely be to use the HMG turn one to push to the midfield where then the doc can take over. Otherwise it’s just back to the spitfire club who have better things to link with. But sad about the tik, he’s relatively hard to take now with all the changes, would’ve liked to see a middle ground
@RattlerNxt4 күн бұрын
@ it’s possible the Montessa gets bricked. But that’s orders spent. And the Motirized version is going to those same places. It has to cover the gap however. So depending on the board layout it can be beneficial to just have a 24 point paramedic (also thinking supplies here) to move right up and grab what’s needed. MO always has a problem with going second. Its whole schtick is inherently vulnerable to hacking. So either stay in the back, and have your repeaters out there and spend orders moving up, or apply pressure upfield. It’s a nice internal pressure. I also happen to like the FD Hospitallers too. The idea of a duo or Haris up field and easier to break through to the enemy is appealing. Course I would recommend having a non-hack able TT or something to kill repeaters or the Crusader to go after a hacker.

Something about Pi-Well that make me definetly want to try him out more: Triangulated Fire got buffed so he shoots his Combi always on 11 against every target even in cover etc. but furthermore he can flashpulse or, much more interestingly, Forward Observe on 2 dice on 13 while he himself sits in cover with mim -6. Since Spotlight now allows saves, and pitchers are weaker this may be interesting as a backup option to remove very hard long range AROs.

Thanks for putting all this out there - more good Aussie Infinity content is always welcome! I'm a less experienced player than you, but my first impression for MO in N5 is: We've improved in general, but probably not enough to massively change where we sit in terms of tiers or competitive viability. All those points decreases are nice, but a lot of units are getting cheaper across the entire game, and MO's major weaknesses remain present. This latter point is good for the game - every sectorial needs weaknesses as well as strengths - but I'm not getting too excited about any other changes. Internal balance changes are mostly good. The Tikbalang was great, but it was a bit too much of an auto-pick. Generally MO's best units have stayed the same or come down just a little bit (Teutons, Trins, Montesas, the Tik), whereas the units that weren't seeing much play have come up a bit (Hospitallers, Crusaders, the Seraph), and that's all a good move towards hopefully opening up some new builds and making the faction more interesting. The Teuton nerf doesn't bother me that much, and I feel like it helps give the Teutons a specific if narrower niche, rather than just being the good HI knights. I like that you note that these changes have pushed the faction more in the direction of its intended fantasy. I still don't think we're going to see e.g. a big Hospitaller core pretending it's Invincible Army and smashing its way across the board, but there are more options for viably using MO's coolest units, which is to say, the heavy infantry knights. They won't be the entire force, but a Hospitaller duo, or KOJ or Crux knight leading a light infantry team, or even just playing more aggressively with a non-LT Joan will be more viable. In terms of faction design I think it makes sense to take a look at why a player might pick this faction, or what they will intuitively gravitate towards doing with it, and then trying to make that viable. One thing you didn't mention that occurred to me was the changes to Frenzy and Impetuous. Most of our HI have Frenzy, but due to being linked we usually didn't see it mattering. That's no longer the case, so we might need to worry about that now or else be taken by surprise. It probably won't make a huge difference in most cases, but I'm prepared to be wrong on that.
@InfinityDante7 күн бұрын
Very much correct on the frenzy and I do think it is a BIG deal! Unfortunately an initial reaction can only cover so much so thanks for pointing it out! It is a bit of a worry admittedly especially with Mobility Joan and the Hospitaller HMG. The close assault units in multi rifle bands and below I’m less concerned about, but if in 6 months time the gunfighters with frenzy turn out not to be viable because of it I won’t be surprised. For now I’m hoping that either hoping that the frenzied gunfighters are able to either 1. Do enough in one turn to justify the frenzy; and/or 2. Be able to lean on their great statline to where frenzy does not matter as much as it would otherwise. With the general water level of the game lowering I find option 2 somewhat encouraging but it remains to be seen Regarding the Tikbalang, as Jordan said in Rob Shepherd’s latest video there is the worry that by the tik losing AP, the seraph just becomes the amazing new auto pick TAG with how fantastic it is but this will depend on how good the rest of the faction turns out to be. My MO lists for the Aussie nationals last year boiled down to Tik + De Fersen and there is sort of a vision for that to be replicated with the seraph if the changes to make the knights more playable doesn’t quite get there. Keen to explore!

The limited cover is a buff, isn't it? Impetuous models used to not have any cover afaik. Anyways, nice video. Subscribed.
@shobooknight7 күн бұрын
Also I'd argue that in some ways the hollow pitcher is even better than the tsyklon since they are so much faster now that it's easier to get nice angles into the opponents dep. Zone. Sixth sense hacking is also a good reason to get HMs up to a full core even if they're not as shooty anymore.
@InfinityDante7 күн бұрын
@shobooknight very true regarding the hollow men! There’s definitely a lot of value in the pitcher with the speed and new range band. The tsyclon will still have the longer shots available to it with the x visor but the hollow man will definitely be just as fantastic and a more surgical option. Good point on the 6th sense hacking. Regarding limited cover, it’s a buff for some and a nerf for some which largely depends on whether the model in question had a way to previously suppress that impetuous. Being in a link does not suppress limited cover as it had in N4 where being in a link blocked that. Generally units that could link and bikes experience limited cover as a nerf where they could use tricks in n4 to avoid the debuffs associated with limited cover while units like hippolata in vanilla O12 will consider it a buff where they had no way to suppress impetuous in n4. It’s more of a unit by unit case but I would say it’s largely a nerf to units who could previously avoid it. Thanks for the sub!
