I remeber when this bridge was destroyed. I live in Nipigon so I know a lot about this small town. And when it said the 1937 bridge, the bridge was actually from 1972. Well the one they destroyed

Nice project. Western is one of our clients - we’ve done pipe stress analysis work for them on many projects over the years going back to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Pedestrian Tunnel project.

Thanks Deniz, Western is a really great company to work along side of. We've visually documented many of their projects over the years. Stay tuned, there is another video about to be released. paul

Hate to see history being tore down like this. In association football also many iconic places are just a memory in modern time: Highbury, Vicente Calderon, Råsunda.. It's incredibly sad :(

why would they not just build the new bridge where they put the temp bridge. it feels like an extra step. the new bridges built around me didint use a temp bridge.
@BasementEngineer2 ай бұрын
Who designed this bridge? The reason I ask is that a very similar bridge in Latchford, on Hwy 11 north of North Bay, had deck hanger failure in early 2000's. The arches were OK but the entire bridge deck and all hangers required replacement. The hanger rod ends were a single screw stud that had failed in fatigue. These were all replaced with 4 cables comprising each hanger. I trust that the lessons from Latchford were incorporated into this design.

Wild how the pipes popped out the top and were not crushed with the base.

What happened was that the stack itself collapsed revealing the steel pipes which did not. You can see this happening at 20 secs into the video. Thanks for watching our content. paul

There's a heck of a lot of videos of power plant implosions on the web. I don't remember any other power plant being brought down this way. This does not produce anywhere near as much dust as implosions.

It still is too bad that it’s a Loblaws now. But at least they have a rink in there still. Would’ve made for the perfect home for the Marlies if they just kept it as full fledged hockey arena. But hey now you can buy your milk and eggs where Dave Keon once lit the lamp.

With what Loblaws charges for groceries, and considering this is now their flagship location, the words "Carlton St. Cashbox" should just be permanently engraved on the front doors.

Outstanding video! I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and planning applied to this job, prior to demolition. So many “lesser” demolition companies just want to smash and go, Priestly, obviously, is much more methodic and professional about the process, proving they were perfect for this project.

I’ve seen 2 Power Plant blasted in the last 3 month here in PA Both of them had issues taking either the Chimneys down or the plant itself. Elrama Power plant in Elrama,PA took 2 blasting to take it down. One in the morning to take the plant down and second one in the afternoon to drop the coal hopers. They didn’t use enough boom on the coal hopers or made enough cuts. Hatfield Ferry Power Station in Carmichael’s,PA took down 2 1100ft chimneys and 550ft scrubber chimney 2 of the 3 fall. Scrubber and 1 chimney. Not enough boom to make the 2 second chimney come down. They had to go back in and 30 minutes later in came down. Hatfield Ferry Power Station also took down 2 cooling towers couple weeks ago. Last year 84 mine took down 4 silo’s. Big Fail on the first try Nothing fell. Went back and they dropped one and got to see the other 3 fall. All of the videos are on my KZbin channel Great job! Stay Safe!

I did the old Milton Jail. 1854 and 1877. I have the door from the gallows for a coffee table. The building is now their Town Hall. It took us nine months to underpin the building. We were looking for the four men that were hanged with the Ontario Museum.
