why would they not just build the new bridge where they put the temp bridge. it feels like an extra step. the new bridges built around me didint use a temp bridge.

@marksmart1 I was thinking the same. After the temp bridge was up and operational it looked like it was there for years.

Yes, I have seen that done in a number of instances. Also they could have done a detour around the site. Looking at google maps it looks like it would have been about a 6 or 7 mile detour. An inconvenience for sure but a lot cheaper. Just this summer I have been on several construction detours at least that long.

Who designed this bridge? The reason I ask is that a very similar bridge in Latchford, on Hwy 11 north of North Bay, had deck hanger failure in early 2000's. The arches were OK but the entire bridge deck and all hangers required replacement. The hanger rod ends were a single screw stud that had failed in fatigue. These were all replaced with 4 cables comprising each hanger. I trust that the lessons from Latchford were incorporated into this design.

Sorry buddy I copied the Latchford plans over a couple beers. Got too drunk and only had a day until the plans were due, whoops! No idea it fell, that sucks. Oh well, when this POS goes i'll blame the contractor and they'll pay me to design another
