Basically what you’re saying when you say “comping”… You produced the record.
@Bradjohnsonmusic3 күн бұрын
I definitely chop and choose the performance. There are times when I do very little, and other times when I may cut and rearrange to get the part I'm looking for. Throughout the entire process I'm producing beyond the comping of takes.

Thanks for sharing. I learned. I dig the guitar. I figured it out. I’m playing it now. It’s in drop D. Sounds like you tuned G string done a half step. Keep it up!

I’ve had an 8. It’s really not usable for stage stuff at all. I am intrigued by the 10.

After acquiring a Neve 88m, having worked with apollos, and watching these shootouts, I have no idea how anyone could claim the apollo is competitive, sound quality wise. Definitely more quality of life features with Apollo, but the Neve frickin sings.
@Bradjohnsonmusic14 күн бұрын
I totally agree that the 88m pres and conversion are better than the Apollos. It's those "quality of life" features and the real time processing workflow that makes it to where I use these interfaces in a hybrid fashion. The Neve 88m DAC is money and really shines light on the Apollo's deficits for sure. Maybe Gen 2 addresses this, but that release isn't compelling enough for me to upgrade when I have the 88m :)

Listening to these great examples, I agree 100% with the observations here. And the price difference is really small. But as with SPP, I wouldn't use the RE20 on an acoustic guitar. The 320 heads that way and offers an extended use profile that the RE20 does not.

Btw, if talking about the UAD bass boost, it cannot handle bumps in the infra range (like in original 909 kicks or d16 Drumazon 2). Or if the input signal has a DC Offset. It will have a huge audible aliasing noise, if you put a compressor afterwards (and push it very hard). UAD has confirmed it, but not going to fix it. Just said that I need to put an EQ before their Pultec. So UAD is not that good at all.

Try the Resotron! You can plug a CV sequencer into the expression jack, and sequence it. I use my Resotron on synths, with a Korg SQ-1 sequencing the expression, while clock synced to a another sequencer, sequencing the synths notes. Watch the great demo of Resotron by Pigtronix's pedal creator on their channel here on YT. brilliant analog pedal with some really great features, and an amazing sound, thanks to the tools he packed into it. If you like filtery funk sounds from a guitar, or bass, Resotron will give them to ya, and a bunch more.

Hey, great video! I was wondering how you are auditioning these in realtime? I usually upload the cabs into my iridium then play for a bit before trying the next cab… it is very time consuming. This workflow is much better

Thanks for your take on these two. I just grabbed the Delta King 12 in a half-price Cyber Weekend sale. From what you've shown it should be just about perfect for the small gigs I play with a trio, so I'm really looking forward to trying it! 😎

So what happened Brad, you said you were going to make a series of your experience with Musiversal. It's been over a year, where are the other videos in the series? I've been considering their service for a couple of years and I finally signed up and now my waitlist is up. Please share your outcome with us? Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out. I plan to pick this channel back up in '25 after spending some time off focusing on family. I am finishing up a release that I did with a lot of Musiversal musicians, and I think that the service is great. Stay tuned, and I'll break out some insights here in the near future.

I have both of these mics, and I love them both! I tend to use the 320 more because it’s brighter and has more gain. But the re20 has that sound, plus in black it looks way better than the OG color lol.

Does pro tools have a feature like arrangement markers in Logic, so you can grab the entire verse and rearrange the form of the song? I really like that in Logic, but can not find it in Pro Tools

very helpful. The Hairball stuck out very obviously. Because it had noise. It also seemed more aggressive and flattened. Here's how I scored them, from best to worst: 1. Logic Pro 2. Slate 3. Waves 4. UAD 5. Hairball

There is nothing simpler ? I use Live, and all you have to do is mute the reference track.. So when you solo it, you only hear the reference track !

A used DK12 and a decent tremolo pedal would make a fine combination for my hillybilly style of playing. I don't do distortion.....hate it unless it's the overdrive sound that Robben Edsel Ford gets out of his Dumble.

Tip for anyone buying these, the eq section is subtractive and each one is a separate gain stage so "noon" or a flat eq would be with all the eq controls cranked. You take away frequencies to taste. Try cranking those eq controls and it'll make these sound huge even at low volumes. Edit: I actually just got mine (the dk 12) today not long before stumbling across this video and I absolutely love it

Thanks 4 the review . I appreciate the in the room sound ! Gives me a better idea of what I'm going to hear . I do have a question and was wonder if you could help . I have a fender gtx 100 . If i run from the line out on DK 10 into the front of the fender , would i be able to use the fenders looper ? Thanks !

It seems to me that the Neve AMS 88M sounds a bit more musical than the Apollo Twin X but It could be that I am showing partiality.

Nice video man! 0 Comments is a bit sad so here I am to save the day! Have you tried the Pico Canyon? I'm torn between this pedal and that one (one being Analogue, the other Digital) - both around the same price point and size. I'm after a mini delay so if you have any other recommendations let me know thanks!

Thanks, Brad! Very helpful video. I’ve got a Vox AC-15 and Supro Delta 12 in my studio trying to see which to get. I found the Vox has got tons of sound variety but you have to keep the volume and Master high to hear the beauty but unfortunately lots of extra amp noise. I found this Delta 12 not very noisy at all and generally a beautiful tube sound, tighter, warmer. Vox is more jangly but unique in its own right. Then I put the Universal Audio Dream pedal in front of both and realize the Dream with the Delta 12 can help the Delta sound more jangly if needed. Next off to try the Laney Supercub against these.

Preamps never make a big difference until you start stacking them. Try 24 tracks of Neve vs UAD then you'll hear a difference.

The best demonstration would be to put a signal with lots of peaks in it through the LA2A in compress mode and bounce to another audio track, and do the same in limit mode and then compare the 2.
