This type of experiment was done by filmemaker Satyajit Ray in many cases. e.g. in his film "Hirak Rajar deshe" he composed a song "paye pori baghmama" for a very funny but tensed situation in a funny lyric but in one raag (I am not aware which one). But the outcome was superb.
