Isn't that irresponsible to remove the catalytic converter? I thought it was there to convert all the unburned fuel in the exhaust to prevent it from getting into the environment.
@DirtGearTv8 күн бұрын
Depends on your local laws. No race vehicles use catalysts and when you put an exhaust on a bike you're removing it anyway

On the graphs, you should have overlaid the time when boos pressure drops right after you closed the throttle, instead of comparing how quickly the boost comes back on. Really in order to make a difference, you would need a check valve on the pipe between the air filter and the tee where the recirculation valve dumps the boost back in the charge pipe. Without it, all the boost pressure is vented backwards through the filter
@brentmeredith529516 күн бұрын
For starters with the taps you need a thread starting tap not a thread chasing or finishing tap second you don't keep turning all the way until you are threw you work it back and forth go in a complete turn and back it it out atleast half a a turn the second binds you back it out and start again and cleanout metal shavings as you go so they don't clog up the bit and plenty of taping fluid. So take it slow keep it clean and work it back and forth with a bit lube applied as you work through plus this technique work well in other ways 😂

@@DirtGearTv that's pretty impressive. I had a 2015 mirage for years. Sold it when it hit 80,000 miles and still regret it to this day. How much work would need to be done just to hit a 150hp range? There are literally no aftermarket parts for this engine anywhere.

There is a more current dyno video. But the highest boost I saw was in testing at 43psi (on accident) and the head lifted. That woulda been approx 420hp at the wheels

The amount of work that can be done by a turbine is from the pressure drop from the inlet to the outlet. If you get higher temperature in, and keep the temp out the same, you will extract more work, because temperature and pressure are related, increase one and the pressure delta is higher, which means more work.
@Azariah437Ай бұрын
Thanks so much for this content man! What engine modifications would you recommend for a (relatively) reliable 300hp 3a92 build? Or if there's another build path that nets less power but is significantly cheaper I'd be interested in that.
@domenusaj2949Ай бұрын
Man that is great thanks for the knowledge 🤟

The reason you break your taps is because you're not supposed to force them. You must use lots of lubricant, and BACK UP a turn or more EVERY time you hit resistance. Then go forward again with more lubricant, then back up, on and on. And clean the chips out once in a while.
@account4info26 күн бұрын
Exactly, I cringed watching his method.
@bsrcat13 күн бұрын
Also there are cutting taps and there are truing taps. Like the name implies, cutting taps are for cutting new threads and your drilled hole must match whatever tap. The starting taper is also different. Truing taps are set to the bolt size and are only meant to cut minimum metal and straighten or remove bad threads. But you are both correct half turn forward quarter turn back regardless of what tap you use.

@אלכסס-ח5גАй бұрын
Looks nice sure but whats the point doing that to a high carbon steel knife?! Unless you are not using it ever, it will get patina or rust in a second and all this nice shiny finish will be ruined.

Do you think if i turbod a 2022 mirage and brought it to 170 ish that i would need to intercool?
@DirtGearTvАй бұрын
@@dylanshepherd6232 I'd be less concerned with intercooled as I would with the head lifting and detonation on pump gas. For that power level you really need e85 minimum but then you would have to upgrade the fuel system and tune accordingly. Good luck!
