It was pretty obvious from the start that it wasn't really a cult. The place was just demonized by that bored tik toker looking for a scapegoat to help them feel better about themselves.

❤The young people can relax on climate change. The ETs tell us the planet can be cleaned up fairly quickly. The focus can be on realizing things will need to change. The financial system for one. No fear. And- it is not enough to say the younger people want change. Spell it out clearly. Everything. Some people are not keen on compost toilets. So the people who want it can install one and use it. Try it out first. You will need to buy substances to cover solids, keep away smells. Not sure out houses are practical in cold climate. Be practical. Make sure you have a Fire break around your area. Have some raised bed gardens Eliminates bending to weed. Do you have the Mother Earth collection? Do you have any plans for tiny homes?

Years ago I met a story editor working on a Canadian reality show about training pilots for CF-18 supersonic jet fighting. What an eyeopener in using cut and paste as fake dramatic tension. He used to say that he worked on a delusional reality show.

Agreed... don't think it was a cult... just an alternative lifestyle and way of living which most people that live normal lives can't wrap their minds around. Good post

It was on its way to being a high control group though. Does it fail the BITE test? Mostly. But they definitely engaged in a lot of impression management which is a huge red flag. I think The Garden was well on its way. Also, I don’t know if Tree is the right guy to make an objective assessment. Having watched it, I disagree with a lot of his takes and flippant dismissal of the criteria when there’s evidence to the contrary.

I love steven hassan, and I'm a big fan of his BITE Model. Typically though, the BITE model should be done in conjunction with another informed person to help do the audit. You can absolutely run it yourself and that's a great step to recognizing you're part of a high control organization (or not.) But it's nice to combine BITE + Street Epistemology, or the Socratic Method approach, or a behaviorist. Because BITE isn't a True or False binary -- it's a spectrum. High control to low control to no control at all, to negligence. All that is a kind of harm/benefit ratio that suggest a high control and undue influence, versus an acceptable amount of influence for your lifestyle. And it helps to have someone there who is at least somewhat impartial, versed in these epistemology techniques to reduce bias and assess responses, and help score those bullet points appropriately. You may be totally fine and happy in a BITE model spectrum, whereas another person may not. It's gotta be a wide spread investigation and its very personal. Some really reject it and hate it where others are ready to talk.

This is exactly my take. I also don’t really think this a truly fair analysis, seeing whom it’s coming from. It’s neither really in depth nor cites examples either. Absolutely losing your shit getting caught on a hot mic? Not great.

As someone who has always loved your and Julia's videos, I didn't expect you to actually 'review' The Garden but I am oddly very excited for this. I never thought the Garden was a cult, even though that is a very hot topic word. But obviously, I just took a few theist classes. I was never IN it, so my opinion means about nothing.

I'm also a bit of a introvert. I could see this work with more freedom for me time and days of solitude. I wonder if one could build a group of self sustained houses with a communal space in the middle. Having that choice to be social or not, and not being judged by it would be great. I love people! I just need to choose who, how and when. And maybe leaning more towards the practical sense and friendship, and less towards ideology. One can be free spirits and ecologically and economically (frugal) aware without chanting, holding hands and the other more "spiritual" stuff that often follows this type of living.

Of course, under the BITE model, 90% of the churches in my county of 20000 people -- almost all of which are fundamentalist or nondenominational -- are far more cult-like than your former community.

Hey , my name is Mariah I'm 21 and I'm wondering if you guys would want to help me out by moving over there and me help you guys out . I don't open up to much lately due to my struggle with depression . :( for the most time , about a year and a half I'm not the best opening up about myself and honestly feel kind of hesitent and scared of putting this out there. But , I am a crazy ball and ecstatic girl about off grid living and I'm typing this while Julia is talking about the rest stop area of the land and I want to know is it like committed to people who need detoxing , rest , time , solitude , suffering from deppression , loneliness , people who feel like they have nothing to live for and aren't purposeful? Cuz that's the biggest reason why off grid living and sustainable living is popular it is the real way of coming back to what a balenced lifestyle is living within the balence of mother gaia and the deception that the government feeds us . That we can't create our realities that we can't live independently on our own without the gov who is controlled by evil reptilian entities / beings from the stars who desires is to call another genocide like that happened with the notzizes in WW3 by putting everyone on AI and feeding us all these chemailized foods , telling us we half too work in the system our whole life, telling us we can't live independently and looks at plants as drugs when they cure depression and suicide , life. They have been controlling , manipulating , and in power for a long time we can only do something to create new earth by accepting one another as we are and taking care of ourselves for real. a 1 world gov is going to be pushed and shits going to hit the fan probably where there plan is to take over the human race they hide themselves by possessing humans who agree to take that agreement or they shapeshift is my wisdom and my research I am investigating on my own time through some research and evidence , facts from David Icke who's been exposing more of this truth and amazing info since 1999 we do have power and control over these things happening in our world as we listen to understand and hear with our hearts and open minds . I want to add to this land and stay longterm my communication is not the clearest ATM because of the negativity I've been fighting on my own internally but I want to change that and I know mother earth is the best healer and people of like minded desire to live this journey to the most extreme and realest possible sense for positivity and truth . I'm contactable at my number and hope I'm someone of interest to the community with my uniqueness and inspiration to help and be helped . May the creator of the universe and ur guides , protectors, ancestors be with u now is a prayer I give to anyone I feel drawn too energetically sent positive energy❤👁️🍄💚✌️😁🌜☺️☀️👥4584886803

Isn't woofing still a thing? Funny thing though, years ago I lived on a farm in the woods. I read about people's dreams to live on in a small tiny house community, or just sharing a parkup. So I wrote about it in all the alternative forums. Not one person replied. I think some might like the dream more than the actual work
@aprilgrafassessment71592 күн бұрын
@ You may be correct…..dream vs. reality. Reality =work and everything that comes with living in a small community means not just physical work, and everything combined may just sound like too much.

Hi Canadian here. I stumbled on and subscribed to your endearing and enduring Tree & Julia channel yesterday. This morning you tube algorithms gave me a Nashville TV station investigating a Christian White Nationalist group that recently purchased 100 acres near Gainesboro, Jackson county to set up an off-grid "national heritage" community. I think the chickens knew.

Is it authentic when everyone is ~highly encouraged~ (expected) to be on camera? Julia and tree profit off of free land labor to develop real equity for themselves. The nonprofit addition is a nice touch for accessing grant money. The forced smiles speak for themselves. Nobody wanted to take that corny photo at the end. Just like nobody wants to see Tree’s ego as he flaunts yoga pants and hispter machismo. Just wait until property taxes hit lmao.
@TreeandJulia10 күн бұрын
We don’t own any land anywhere so we have no equity other than our bus I think. We’ve never gotten a grant although that would be quite a normal way to get funding for what we are doing.

Bob is an extreme opportunist who will casually take advantage of any individual or groups of individuals to accomplish his goal of creating a sh*t hole village. He stole over 100k from the people who actually helped found the ESEV. The money to buy the 430 acres was all from psilocybe mushrooms that myself and others grew. Total fraud, user and mental abuser with a God complex.
