Sounds like a lot of people share the sentiment with how many likes this comment has. This community might not be right for some introverted people because of the shared housing. We’ve seen some other intentional communities where people have individual homes and then shared spaces, but no daily expectation to interact. I hope we can document some of these soon.

Off communal experience, The Farm became my template, though I was late to the party in 1981. It is a difficult proposition to suggest that old folks, like me, are able to inspire youth. Upon founding of the community, the 'elders' of The Farm did not isolate themselves from rural Tennessee folks, rather, they ensured that community would survive and thrive, by asking questions of the 'old folks' who had lived generationally off of the land; Foxfire publications, handed down in person. There are old folks who know the material world and there are old folks who know the mind, of how the spiritual world prefers to move through us. Inner city youth will respect the old one's if they have the vibes of a higher cosmic order and can grow food, and can provide shelter. Good interviews, thank you for sharing.

As much as I love communties like this, you are just showing the good parts of it. You don't talk about the cost of living there...the financial burden must be HUGE on that property. The maintenance of the buildings and the systems that go along with it alone seem pretty expensive to maintain. People come and go because they get tired of trying to make it work. You have to have an income source and then to do all the other work that is required to maintain life there along with your job it gets to be a burden...you end up never seeing your friends outside of the community. Communties like this break down all the time because of financial stress, conflicts of personalities, unequal work ethics etc. I personally have never lived in one because too many of my friends have and all have left. I still love the idea but it might be best to find a friend group to do it with...seems to me those work out best but who knows? There are a few in PDX and they have had some pretty good success. Good luck and wish you happy trails!

I'm also a bit of a introvert. I could see this work with more freedom for me time and days of solitude. I wonder if one could build a group of self sustained houses with a communal space in the middle. Having that choice to be social or not, and not being judged by it would be great. I love people! I just need to choose who, how and when. And maybe leaning more towards the practical sense and friendship, and less towards ideology. One can be free spirits and ecologically and economically (frugal) aware without chanting, holding hands and the other more "spiritual" stuff that often follows this type of living.

I remember watching your family in another community, and I felt so for you all. If I may be open to say this community you have come to is right up your families values to build with this new family/ community. It has evolved to where you both are in the knowledge and love. Both community and your family are such a lovely support system. I would love to be the elder in your community and grandchildren running around that my presence would be further filled with love and movement in my love that I still very much have to offer with loving and helpful. It would feel great to know the young are all around looking to take the torch that was handed off in my own life far sooner than I felt ready for. The young have such love for the earth and environment. it's all absolutely beautifully organized, friendly, and cozy, as well as it has homey inviting presence.😊💛☕️🫖🤗🙂 Just sayin I'm looking forward to another video. To the young lady talking about plant breeding programs. Until you've bred a new variety yourself you wouldn't understand the attachment, but even without understanding you should try to respect that it's this selective breeding and stubbornness from ancient people to breed many things we enjoy today.
@TreeandJulia2 ай бұрын
It’s definitely an extensive and complex process to even imagine!
@ziggybender91252 ай бұрын
@@TreeandJulia Sort of. It's basically plant a bunch of seeds. Eventually they bear fruit and you try it. Good fruit = tree stays and bad fruit = tree gets chopped for wood. is it true? business by-law officers and other political officers came to a farm and asked the owner if they could inspect his farm, he thought he must comply to the legal artificial political personnel, so he volunteered to allow them to do their business on his property. for a few years they proceeded to accuse him of things he was doing are wrong, not to their liking and that he should do it the way they wanted, having to buy new things and changing building structures etc... he did everything they wanted. they then ordered him to shut the farm down, he had been running for over 40 yrs, never causing anyone any criminal intent, causing damage and injury to anyone, growing potatoes. so he got very angry at the legal by-law officer, just to act arrogant and totally mean, she said to him; if you had not allowed us on your property we would not have been able to do anything, it's your fault? the whole financial corporate legal civil political system, it's departments and services are businesses, that are only voluntary! is the financial legal corporate system trying to hide that they are a business, that is only voluntary! should any corporation, business, service, have authority to force anything to do business in their "jurisdictional by-law authority" it's codes, rules? mcdonalds,? wendy;s? the corporate health department? the polls department? the lobbying department? licensing department etc... it's president and stock holders? popeye's chicken, it's stock holders? force your children to act as a slave to any corporation, business, service? this is what hitler did, stalin, lenin etc... would anyone want to hire and pay any business if what they are going to do is a secret, legally not allowed to know? what is a crime? when anyone has proof that another on purpose causes any damage and in jury to someone else that did not volunteer, consent to the crime. no crime no criminal buddha states; think it you become it, bible states; ask and ye shall receive, jesus said; knock and the door will be opened, what are you thinking? what are you asking for? what door are you knocking on? with peace and a balance of love (creativity), wise (how to create it) and power (to create it), you are free too imagine, think and create anything avoid debt illusion, forgive yourself and others, be free

It seems like a lot of people share the struggle, I hope somewhere along the way we can find people who managed to grow beyond being an individual homestead into a community so we can document and show others how to do the same. I feel like there are some obstacles when you start off as one unit and try to grow beyond that. Because people may always assume that the land cannot really equally be shared if it started as just your land. but I do know some people that have homesteads, and have opened them up with events and kind of connected with the traveling community through that, and then people can use their land as rest stops throughout the year. Maybe we can come pay you a visit in Ohio sometime if you’d like.
