It's not so much Larry dying but the Simpsona dying that I think has everyone feeling nostalgic, I think we all recognise that the Simpsons isn't what it used to be, and can't go on for that many more years. Larry was much more of a fixture of the very early Simpsons, which was more a drama about Homer and his juggling of his family, work and bar life, rather than the more kid oriented show and wacky comedy it is today, The Simpson's early on, the first season or two, was really a much more grounded show about Homer as a family man, and the depressing bar fly was very thematic of the grittiness of the Simpson's beginnings. In a way this closes the circle.

i really don’t understand the backlash here. it’s a cartoon, it’s just another bad episode in the long list of bad episodes that plague post movie spongebob. this is the smallest thing ever to get upset over. the workforce is cruel and people like Mr Krabs exist in real life, nothing to cancel the show over. it’s just not a good episode

I've been watching the Simpsons since 2011 at the age of 5½ & 6 years old... My parents had back and fourth emotions on me watching it because of how violent it was when it wasn't entirely that bad. I've secretly watched it for years until they finally gave up on me from preventing me to watch it after going through a tough battle during my early years... Over the years I aged and aged year and year went on my family disliked the show when I got into it at a young age, and at some point when I turned 12 they were cool with me watching it until I decided to give up myself and take a hiatus from watching it for a few years until I decided to watch it all over again from S1 and day by day watching it every single day all day. My favorite character was Moe when I was young at the time and the Bar scene always hit me everytime for some reason. As a 18½ year old young adult when I saw the new episode of Larry's death I never new what was happening or who Larry was. I kept thinking he was a random character but my mind snapped nearly a week later. I thought it was Lenny who died but I was wrong. Now come to think of it I'm rewatching the series again because I'm gonna miss Larry dearly and it's not going to be the same without him anymore... I felt really heartbroken after rewatching the episode at home and it haunted me as well and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I have depression myself and it's not easy being sad and depressed in your life and feeling all the loneliness and pain, even dying a sad lonely death. I feel his pain and it's extremely difficult, I don't think he didn't deserve to die honestly... Rest In Peace Larry 💔

This confirms the sad truth, that most people won´t recognize you (or talk about you) until you are dead. Also this was one of the best episodes which stirred the, well, stagnation of this show lately.

Sam is a kind, caring soul and couldn't handle being at Larry's funeral even if they were best friends. Excuse me as I'm gonna have a drink for Larry and Sam.

This was honestly sad and beautiful, even though I hate Disney, I can't deny that The Simpsons did an amazing job with the episode. Rest In Peace Larry.

In the early seasons he’s a happy average guy. No downfall seen. This new season just lacks personality. The voice acting for the older people like Marge and Burns are getting more quiet with less energy. Would’ve been more impactful to kill off Apu. they already removed his actor. His kids grew more than Maggie and wife never found her own friend.
