I have a question on decreasing. You chained one and then made double crochet. However, next time you didn’t chain one and just did dc. Do you only do that the first time with ch 1 or every time?
@ladyj5120099 күн бұрын
I’m really wanting to do this but how do I get an answer?
@craftinginthenight8 күн бұрын
You can do either. I should have been consistent. I recommend doing the chain 1 and double crochet each time as it will give a bit more space to work into. The reality is that as long as you are consistent with one method or the other i.e either chaining one or not chaining one before placing the double crochet your project will look great. My apologies for the delay in reply! This is a fun project and I bet it's going to work up great for you!!

@craftinginthenight12 күн бұрын
It wasn't too bad because you're working them in panels. So if you just stay on top of them per panel, it's not that much of an issue. But you could also use a self striping yarn and get a similar effect without all the ends! Thank you for watching exclamation

So glad to see you back! I love doing C2C but this is such a unique idea! I don't, however, like to join granny squares much less panels. So I'll be making a full size from scraps and using your border. Thanks for sharing!

Hi @48”…697 are so creative….i started one-off. these…and I have 4 sq done…7” done, cc sr…i’nm using Caron big cakes in ToffeeBrickle…9i’m a little not sure if I like it…do you ever have tha? I don’t know if the color runs are too long or what, but my blocks seem to be mostly one color…with a corner another color… i’m wondering if I don’t get the fact that I want. What would you do while I only have four blocks should I tear them out and choose another pattern for the ceiling? I know you don’t like to tell people what to do, but I’m kind of befuddled. Don’t want to put more work and find out it’s blah. Also, sometimes when you get a bunch of something put together, it’s marvelous Just some advice please? than
@craftinginthenight12 күн бұрын
I haven't tried it with Caron big cakes but, for a longer color run, I would make the panels wider. If you are still in the corner I would at least try it until it straightens out some. Sometimes my corners weren't perfect it just depends where the stripe starts. If it has a longer color run you could also try a wider panel but, the blue one is in latte cakes and that has a longer color change than the cinnamon swirl and still came out good. You can see on that one the "chevrons" are a good bit wider than when I did the pattern with the cinnamon swirl. Making the panel wider will allow the color to change more quickly and result in "faster" color changes as you work up the project. I hope that helps, it's really up to you these are just some ideas :D

Thank you so much that is helpful. I don’t have very many squares done. I may frog them back to the increase stage and make them bigger. I think you’re right that will probably help me change color quicker ….thank you. !@@craftinginthenight

@theyarnpharm-JillFountain28 күн бұрын
Can you make all your panels first and then join?
@craftinginthenight28 күн бұрын
Sure you could! Just keep in mind the center seam isn't going to match colors so if I were going to do this I would probably add a small contrasting border and then join. In fact, I have a tutorial in the works for something like this where you work up panels and then join. When in doubt though, try it on a smaller sample swatch first :D

I didn't see the chevron either. Boo.
@craftinginthenight28 күн бұрын
It's worked up in panels so you make the first side and then the second side the chevron starts to materialize so its a bit further in the video tutorial. If you are looking for a chevron pattern that materializes a little quicker check out this C2C tutorial that uses self-striping cakes to create the chevron effect. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXashnmFgpeJl8k The technique is similar to what I did in this blanket but there is no color changing required.
