use plastic bonder between the clips and the lining of the car. I did this myself and it turned out great! Just make sure to use gloves. There is a video that is helpful for it on youtube!

Last time I opened my roof on my 2006 C70 it made a loud clack sound about 3/4 of the way to opening. When I went to return the roof it got about 1/4 of the way and stopped. The truck was in a vertical position and it just wouldn't go anywhere. After an hour of internet searching and trying to figure out a strategy to manually adjust the roof, I tried the button one more time and it retracted fully. I haven't opened the roof in about a year now, scared it will malfunction. The roof is quite noisy when going over bumps etc. always has been and seemingly random spots as well.

Check usual suspects: lock brace may be broken, clean and lube roof seals and arms, and try to get access to Vida to scan for codes, especially for hall sensors. But the clack sound may have been a lock brace letting go and you need a replacement. Definitely find someone with Vida and run a scan.

It's a great car, but it sure is heavy. Even when you do all the standard bolt on upgrades, it's still feels like a lot of car to get moving at around 3600 lbs.

No doubt! But cool thing about the day was talking with all the other drivers. Some experienced, some new, some cars modified specific for track, some not (like mine). Cool thing was everyone's attitude was track the car you have and work with those limits. Big thing the day proved to me was how tires trump almost any bolt on upgrade and focus work over the winter on suspension.

I have one of these, sounds a bit complicated to be honest, all I did was to let go of the drop roof button at the same point and it stopped going down !

Any option to adjust the 2 roof sections which join above the driver's head? Mine is noisy in that area every time I go over small bumps in the asphalt.

With Vida you can check alignment and recalibrate to make sure the roof is seating properly. Need to verify none of your hall sensors are bad and that joints are lubricated. Not sure if there's a way to recalibrate without the software

I noticed that you removed the roof upholstery and I was wondering if you have any tips for eliminating the noise from the joints.
@Dux96

Seller removed headliner and I don't think there's much to do about reducing noise from joints other than lubricating them. Once roof is locked in there's not much to do about dampening vibrations without the headliner

The headliner is the worst and most trouble prone part of the otherwise excellent hardtop convertible system. From the weak adhesive the inevitably fails right to the plastic tabs on the wings that will inevitably crack. It's not stock, but I really think mechanically fastening the headliner is the best long term decision. I've heard of people using riv-nuts and just sheet metal screws.

I made this soon after buying the C70 and I still haven't installed new headlining because I've been working on other mods. I have a better understanding of how it works now (sorta) and I have VIDA to set service position. I'm debating re-installing the clips or actually fastening it. Also considering adhering insulation sheets before I do for heat and accoustics. Once I get there, I plan on making a video how I did it (and the likely mistakes I'll make) since there's not much on YT how to do it.

So happy in the UK the horrendous cabin filter is accessible without removing pedals! I think whichever engineer designed that location for the filter deserves a good and proper kicking.

I've since installed rear sway bar, turbo intake, engine mounts, etc. This remains the most frustrating maintenance/repair experience I've had. Except maybe a TCV upgrade. Maybe. It's a cabin filter for crying out loud.

@@Dux96 Easy to see why so many people/garages just don't bother to change it. I had a 2013 S60 D5 R-Design, filter in the same location. The smell that came out on a hot summer's day was horrendous, it was the filter that had somehow got wet before my ownership and absolutely stunk! The effort to remove was worth it to get rid of that smell!

Really interesting to see the bare bones of it, the 2 interior flaps above driver/passenger side head don't pull in fully when the roof is up, so well worth seeing which bits. are potentially responsible for not doing their job.

Haven't made the repair yet because weather hasn't been cooperating. Clips don't come with adhesive. Volvo recommends Wurth Fix All 2-Part Adhesive. See Volvo tech bulletin for repair procedure at static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10157914-9999.pdf
