The headliner is the worst and most trouble prone part of the otherwise excellent hardtop convertible system. From the weak adhesive the inevitably fails right to the plastic tabs on the wings that will inevitably crack. It's not stock, but I really think mechanically fastening the headliner is the best long term decision. I've heard of people using riv-nuts and just sheet metal screws.

I made this soon after buying the C70 and I still haven't installed new headlining because I've been working on other mods. I have a better understanding of how it works now (sorta) and I have VIDA to set service position. I'm debating re-installing the clips or actually fastening it. Also considering adhering insulation sheets before I do for heat and accoustics. Once I get there, I plan on making a video how I did it (and the likely mistakes I'll make) since there's not much on YT how to do it.

Did you ever make a video of the replacement process? My headliner just came unattached today

use plastic bonder between the clips and the lining of the car. I did this myself and it turned out great! Just make sure to use gloves. There is a video that is helpful for it on youtube!

is there anything you need to add to the clips to make it stick? Does the new clips come with the glue already?

Haven't made the repair yet because weather hasn't been cooperating. Clips don't come with adhesive. Volvo recommends Wurth Fix All 2-Part Adhesive. See Volvo tech bulletin for repair procedure at static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10157914-9999.pdf
