2009 Volvo C70 T5 M66: Setting Roof Service Position with Vida

While trying to trouble shoot problems with my roof cables I need to figure out how to set the roof in service position. Manually setting the position is a pain. Luckily, I have Vida. Unluckily, I don't really know how to use Vida.

Just bought one of these so thank you for showing the roof 'innards', interesting to see things with headlining off before I even consider looking to replace/repair elements on mine. Thanks!

If you're planning doing a lot of work yourself, consider getting VIDA. It's makes a world of difference figuring things out.

@@Dux96 Thanks, I've got Vida - just need to re-create my virtual machine to run the diagnostic software as my old laptop broke :D

Good afternoon! Could you share the name of the software to download on the laptop? Or can you do all that with the scanner? Or did you do it that way because you didn't have a scanner?

Last time I opened my roof on my 2006 C70 it made a loud clack sound about 3/4 of the way to opening. When I went to return the roof it got about 1/4 of the way and stopped. The truck was in a vertical position and it just wouldn't go anywhere. After an hour of internet searching and trying to figure out a strategy to manually adjust the roof, I tried the button one more time and it retracted fully. I haven't opened the roof in about a year now, scared it will malfunction. The roof is quite noisy when going over bumps etc. always has been and seemingly random spots as well.

Check usual suspects: lock brace may be broken, clean and lube roof seals and arms, and try to get access to Vida to scan for codes, especially for hall sensors. But the clack sound may have been a lock brace letting go and you need a replacement. Definitely find someone with Vida and run a scan.

I have one of these, sounds a bit complicated to be honest, all I did was to let go of the drop roof button at the same point and it stopped going down !
