My only qualm with the strictness is 1. You can't defend yourself from home intruders or other threats. 2. There is absolutely no way to overthrow the government. If they decide they want to go full on Fahrenheit 451, totalitarian, dictatorship mode, they can.

I like the wooden peg idea, I'm not experienced in this at all, but would lag bolts do the same thing? Or is the wooden peg to fasten superior for some reason? Thanks, just uneducated in this area but am looking into a diy hi top.

Great video. One thing that can help is extra fuel, with a small cargo on the roof. Or just put the extra fuel on the roof, good to have if you're going way out there and traveling through places that's is long between stops.

I would love to see the results, four years later, of needlessly injecting all that open-cell foam into your van. I have read LOTS of reports from people who found that the open-cell foam holds water and causes rust. For anyone reading this now: DO NOT bother to insulate those voids in the frame members. The steel will conduct heat/"cold" right around that insulation as if it wasn't even there. The only reason to put anything in there would be to maybe reduce air flow, if one end is open to the elements. But, never use fiberglass or open-cell foam. Both soak up water like a sponge. If you just want to prevent condensation in there, you can just cover the openings with good tape, or glue something over the opening.

A kangaroo😂? your on another planet over there! Most I will see is a dog on a leash where Ive been boondocking(Indiana dunes). I started travel boondocking last fall, at a flying J truck stop. I didn't sleep, but went again this summer to a vistors center at the dunes, w my spouse, didn't sleep again due to his snoring and a poor bedding set up. The next night I was myself and set up a 6" inflatable Coleman cot mattress, and slept well! I love boondocking now, wish I would have started this 30 years ago! Its important to just start doing it, don't get discouraged, keep tweaking your build.
