I like steady runs earlier in my build. Weeks 4-8 generally. Weeks 1-4 are mileage building and alactic strides so I can make that transition into quicker running when necessary. I find that steady states are a bit too general for those latter weeks when it’s time to get more marathon specific (long run w/marathon pace executions, tempo runs etc).
@boxbury5 күн бұрын
How did that happen in a big race like Houston!? That’s on the Race Organizers not on you. Taking a wrong turn shouldn’t even be an option on a well marshalled course.

These videos are very informative. No need for fancy shots and fancy editing. However, it helps if you have a whiteboard and pen behind you.

"All you have is what you're working with." Thanks for the words because it's easy to compare myself to my previous fitness, and looking back can show what worked and what currently might not be working. So yes, let's all put in the effort to get better than where we are, at this moment now and crush the future!

Im running a marathon in December. I need a new goal when the rce is done. Should I try to improve my 21k time or begin from the 5k and go up?

Thank you good tips all that, suck times sessions definitely suck. Then some mega ones were I think bloody hell how the how did do that. So many things can make or break a session or race Im slowly learning that, knowing all the factors. But guess no way in hell can control all those things. Nice one happy birthday for then ✊

Awesome video! I knew that I hadn't been eating enough, but I didn't quite realize that the timing was so important. I've been doing a 10k run every day for the last month, but I haven't been eating right after my run. I really like your tip about having the post-run meal prepared the night before, and then taking it to work. I go on my run right before work, and I usually run short on time getting ready, so I skip eating.

It’s inspirational from the standpoint that we all those days. It’s helpful to amateurs like myself to see that out of you so I know the options of whether to pull back on training. It helps me to look past the bad days and trust the process. Keep up the great work!

learning about zone 2 is what got me not only into running, but whats make me able to stick with it. started bit over half a year ago where i was struggeling running 5km at 10:30min/km pace. today i did a 11.5km run at about 06:50min/km at same low maf HR, so a rather insane improvement in my opinion, and its so motivating to actually see and feel the improvement. There is no way i would believe half a year ago, that i today not only would be able to run for 11,5km straight, but do it in a way that feels easi, and where when im done with the run almost feel like i can do it all over agein, and best of all, not have my legs hurt for next 2 days. zone 2 is king:)

couldn't agree more w/ protecting your training! if you get into a good rhythm week to week, don't fuck it up by doing too much, trying too hard or beating yourself up if you have a bad day. earlier in my training this year, the price of good sessions was not feeling my best on easy days and long runs and i didn't fight it. eventually the focus shifted to quality long runs and thus the sessions weren't always bang on. priorities. if everything is rainbows and sprinkles all the time, what the fuck are you really doing!?

What are your thoughts on prioritising Threshold over VO2 Max? I’ve read that VO2 Max is largely determined by genetics and harder to improve than Threshold which is an important metric for runners. So would you think doing VO2 Max once every other week is enough and perhaps doing Threshold twice every other week?

This dude is allergic to getting to the point. Talks in circles with endless b-roll and inane yapping. Gotta get that 10 minute runtime somehow I guess LOL
