The slow starts are from 3 of the starting 5 struggling with their shot. Personally I think it’s the wrong combination out there together this season . Worthy opponents will expose this every time and we need to establish some trust in atleast one 6-5 player . Players are looking over their shoulders a little to much with the subbing .
@pervisratliff45472 күн бұрын
I hate to say this i love Dawn as a player and coach but if your a high school guard u would be a fool to go to SC as great as a guard Dawn was she don't know how to coach guards raven ain't half the player she was in high school look what she did to Brea Beal she was the gatorade player of the year in high school she averaged over 20 pts a game she made her a defender that's it most guards who go there lose their game because she focuses on the big men Fulwiley gotta get outta there all players makes mistakes but u don't bench them she is the best player on that team and your not helping her by benching her in big games like that
@bernardriggs20792 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t go that far , but Dawn has the benefit of being impatient with players mistakes because her roster is so deep . The bad side to this is a lot of her players won’t reach their full potential because the roster is so deep . It’s good and bad to that for the players sharing minutes or can’t get comfortable on the floor because of the subbing
@Bigmeech8642 күн бұрын
If you hated to say it then you wouldn’t have said it. Beal was good in high school but she wasn’t that good in college. She never could shoot the ball. Dawn is showing the what the W wants (defense). Y’all fans be quick to point out what Dawn is doing wrong but we won’t hold the players accountable…Fulwiley will be fine regardless of where she go. She just has to learn to play in between the spectacular play as Dawn said.

For the so called, best team in the nation, to be beat like that is embarrassing. I stopped watching the game in the second quarter. Carolina needs a good center or a good power forward. And guards that are offensively productive.....with that said.....perhaps there needs to be some changes in the starting lineup.

Yea UCLA destroyed Carolina, that’s what I heard from Carolina haters but the score was 4 to 2 half way into the first quarter and lost by 15. Carolina has always came out cold but that does not explain why they lost. Question I have is why it’s illegal to reach in and going over the top like Betts did but referees didn’t not call those fouls but call fouls early and often on Carolina? I listen to the game on the radio and Dawn Staley was yelling to the referees about the non called fouls, kinda reminded me of that game against Iowa couple years ago in the semi-finals. 3 of the starters are playing subpar games for their standards and I think maybe there should be 3 new starters and stop taking all those miss 3’s. By the way why we keep playing UCLA in their home court they can’t play away, all 5 game was at home this year. Our offense need to get better to bring up the shooting percentage and that goes for free throws too. I say Carolina lost not UCLA won that game, people of Los Angeles can’t have UCLA and Southern California lose on the same weekend after some people was predicting they are # 1 and 2 ranked preseason teams in the country. The Carolina haters got what they wanted but by no means Carolina got destroyed. Hopefully this is what Carolina needed to stop coming out slow and they learned what “that’s why we play the game” means and 76% chance of winning means nothing unless they perform to their standards. Start Johnson, Hall and Feagin on the bench let others start for while until their play improves, not saying they not good player because they are good players but because the bench players are doing better. This is my opinion
@angelamacias6243 күн бұрын
i agree 100% and im not a fan of either team, watching this game i also realized Watkins is scared to shoot the ball but i don't understand because she's often in FT range and they always leave her open.. she rather attack the paint instead of making the defense come out to defend her and opening up the paint. idk maybe she's scared to miss but SC could've probably forced an OT despite the slow start if Kitts was stronger in the paint despite getting fouled from behind, if Watkins shot the ball and if Hall just stopped trying to do too much and turning the ball over. Dawn definitely needs to reevaluate her rotation bc like you said the bench is performing better than her starters
@aaronwarner4987Күн бұрын
So let me get this right. UCLA had nothing to do with South Carolina losing? The lead was 20+ points a majority of the game. To be honest I thought Betts was fouled many times that were not called. It is funny how the officiating depends on your perspective. The talent level on the court was crazy. SC has 10 McDonald's All Americans and UCLA has 9. Nineteen McD's All American's between two teams is crazy. SC is an incredible team, but UCLA won this game, it wasn't handed to them.

It’s not that fulwiley is “TOO” flashy. she needs to execute her game, her playing down is only going to make her worse she has to figure out how to be the best at what she does . Bree hall too tbh I love her but she is trigger shy . She’s not coming off the screens looking to shoot . I just don’t understand how 3 out of our 5 starters are not looking to score . Chloe and pao are suffering because of it . We need a new starting lineup ,we don’t have the luxury of being able to start slow anymore
@oneday55723 күн бұрын
Yea I agree. Dawn said “scoring is not what WNBA scouts look for” and I’m like, unless Raven is declaring I don’t see how that’s even relevant right now. “She’s making the shots in practice” ok well it’s not translating in the games. Raven is great defender but until her offense improves, she needs to come off the bench.
@jacobnyhart68623 күн бұрын
I've been compiling the stats all year - and your point is spot on. Aside from the one game Kitts was out for the academic issue, Staley has rolled the same starting 5 out there every game - and each game has been a 1st quarter/half nightmare. They cannot continue to go deep in the hole and expect the bench to bail them out every game. I love Raven, Bree, and Feagin - but that lineup isn't working. I know Dawn sees stuff in practice we don't see, so she believes that's the best starting 5 - but on game day, that isn't it so far. I'm confident they will get it figured out come SEC play - but we're going to hit a lot of bumps this season if they don't.
