I agree definitely not black maderia. I’m sure even Harvey or his staff makes a mistake here and there.

What a great job you’re doing, and a much deserved reward for your efforts. Also we bought 3 pawpaw trees this year because of your pawpaw tasting video. Thanks for sharing.

I bought a weed eater head called Tri-Clone Trimmer head. Works effortlessly for what I do in thick grass/weeds. Might want to check into something like that. Some of those limbs on that kudzu looks pretty large though. I think I have a couple persimmon trees on the edge of our property but they will never get enough sun to grow good. I can cut the trees all around. Good find and hopefully it produces good for you.
@ShyArtist5214 күн бұрын
I used to live where our front yard was a grove of American persimmon trees. I liked them. I could control the sprouts with a lawn mower. We moved to a new place. My neighbor has persimmon trees in his back yard. They are always sprouting up in my garden where I don't want them. I cut them out, dig them up, or spray them with Round Up. They just keep coming back. They are very tough. I am confident that your tree will survive and thrive. Here in central Oklahoma, we don't eat the persimmons until after the first freeze. Even then, I taste them cautiously. On a different note, will you be selling cuttings from you Euclid fig this year?

I ❤ ground cherries! If you make them into jam. They taste totally different. Not bad but they loose their unique taste. My ground cherry come back every year by themselves. Usually get fruit by mid August. I agree they taste the best when their lantern turns see through. Zone 6a Michigan
@govindasgardenАй бұрын
Yes, you are right about the taste difference when cooked. Lantern.. hah! I like that term.

Had these a few years ago here in Phoenix, they were very prolific and sweet, almost like pineapple and light citrus.
@superdave336Ай бұрын
I’ve tasted these one time and like someone said sort of a pineapple/berry like flavor best I remember. I’ve never grown them but might this next year. I’ve been focusing on figs this year. First year growing those. Thanks for sharing Lee.

I remember these! It was years ago, but I think they were somewhat like pineapple/berry flavor. Also they were supposedly best after they dropped on the ground. Definitely want to grow these again now. Thanks for sharing.

So you said you planted the campaniere n Dec 2023, was that a mistake? If not, the plant is not yet a year old! I planted a Campaniere cutting in March of this year and I have figlets too - not sure if they will ripen before the frost in 6b/7a zone.
@govindasgardenАй бұрын
Hmm... Looking back, I see the tag says Feb 2023, which is when I started the cutting. So that means this is the tree's 2nd growing season. Yeah, that sounds right :)

How's it going Lee, that's my middle name. I reside in Texas zone 9A, the past 2 winters we have gotten down to 15 degrees for a couple of days. I currently have a little over a hundred varieties of figs and somewhere around 150 total in pots. What I typically do for winter protection is place them all together, covering them first with moving quilts then placing a large tar over the top, leaving about six to eight inches of opening around the bottom on the side opposite of the north or the south side. This has worked for me the last 2 years without any damage or loss. Good luck with your trees this winter. I also go by the name Gitfiggywithit65 in the community.!

thank you SO MUCH for sharing this info with us! i think i made a big mistake by not keeping the bottom open for airflow. i'm glad to hear you found something that works for you. i'll keep your tips in mind for next year!

They could be up-potted, or left in these. I believe they are 5G pots. The largest final size I would do it a 10G pot.
