How much latency do those insert plugins have? They are all oversampled and this creates latency, so DSP does not help here, but I wonder how much latency.

this is brilliant work. since these channels are mapped out of a real Neve console, wouldn't they always sound the same? channel 1 always sound like channel 1, etc. so you could theoretically go back to a random setup you liked manually if you just write down the sequence?
@elikrantzbergАй бұрын
Yes, you could definitely write down the combination of channels you like and then when used, will sound the same every time.

Hello, how can you listen a Dolby Atmos song on you Iphone, on your Mac without going to Logic and Apple Music
@liorben-abuhadar28622 ай бұрын
Question: since you have Bus to HD1 and HD2 outputting to CUE1/2 respectively, why have two other channel strips going to CUE1/2 (in purple)? There's obviously a reason, I think I'm misunderstanding it, thinking it's redundant?
@elikrantzberg2 ай бұрын
Great question. And there is a simple answer. When I did these videos six years ago, Logic's send functionality did not include the option to route directly to a physical output on your interface. You could only output to a bus that arrived at an Aux track. That Aux track could then be routed to the physical (headphone) outputs. So, it was necessary to do it this way at the time. Logic has since been updated to include the ability to route a send directly to a physical headphone output. And I have modified my templates to take advantage of this.

Thank you! I am trying to figure this out for my software drumkits/synth. This is exactly how I have routed everything when tracking vocals/line inst. For my software instruments I route the Instruments to Virtual Inputs and use the processing from UAD Console to monitor. As prescribed in the Manual. However, my first preference would be to use the Verb from the bus send within logic itself with low latency mode on. Is this possible at all? Thank you! P.S When I enable Low Latency mode the bus send gets disabled.

I'm not a musician and I'm not familiar with Logic Pro so sorry for the ignorant question. Are the keyboards and bass following you in realtime or is your live playing just for the video?
@elikrantzberg3 ай бұрын
They aren’t following us in real time. The bass and piano parts are generated based on the chords I input. And then, optionally, modified later based on the live drums and/or guitar after they were recorded.

Impressive. Makes sense. I can program a bass line just fine, but letting Logic do most of the work is a huge timesaver. Is it possible to easily change generated parts? Of course, if I had a great bass player with a unique style available I would go that route, but a lot of the time this would suffice.
@elikrantzberg4 ай бұрын
Yes, you can influence the performance in the generated parts to a certain degree. You can always convert them to MIDI and go to town tweaking them to your heart’s content.

Man. I didn't think I'd ever come close to understanding this stuff. I'm still scratching my head, but I'm sure after a couple more times watching your video, I'll figure it out. Thank you so much. (I'm writing this six years after you posted, I'm assuming the changes in Logic and Console since then are not so radical that any of this no longer applies?)
@jamescassidy40455 ай бұрын
Can I ask you a question brother. It's regarding the Apollo X interfaces, and the latency(input delay compensation) settings in Console. So, when I record drums let's say, I''l use my X8P, and a Focusrite Clarett ADAT Octopre. So I usually will have about 4-8 actual outboard analog preamps, so I usually route my External Pre's Line in right into the Focusrite, and if If theres any inputs left out of the 8 on the Focuusrite, I'll just use the Preamps on those channels for utility stuff like hats, ride, snare, or tom bottom etc. Then I'll use all 8 of the UA Unison Pre's usually. So ya, thats my typical setup. The thing that I'm wondering is how do I know what to set the latency to within Console, and what is the purpose of it, I don'e even really get it. I know that the higher you set it to, it will delay the printed signal more, but that's it. Like, just as one other example, say your recording a track, and say you are monitoring through the DAW. I know usually, and for a long time back in the day, you'd want to set your buffer rate as low as possible to obv cut down on hearing any audible latency, but obv computers got better, and with Interfaces like the Apollo, you can often just direct monitor through the interface, so hearing latency isn't an issue really. The only thing I can think of that it could be for is when monitoring through Console, and you want to have Unison/Plugins on the track. But then, whats tripping me out even more, unless I'm wrong, is that you can either have Delay Comp Off, or you can go more in increments (short/med/long etc), but Ive noticed that the higher I have it, the more it actually delays the physical track coming into the DAW, so lets say you record with no Delay Comp, if you go through the different ones, the track is actually recording into the Daw with more latency lol. So, I'm just super confused on when/why someone would want to use it. I thought maybe if plugins in Console caused latency(which I thought they didn't anyway because the Apollo is handling the processing) but if they did, even if you applied Delay Compensation, it's actually adding more latency on the printed tracks so. The other thing I was worried about was if I had half outboard gear running line in (printing to tracks in the Daw), and then half recording through unison Pre's with plugins in Console, I thought maybe the Apollo Pre's/Tracks w/ plugins would print with a different latency, and Im nervous maybe if I have the Delay Compensation set wrong that could also happen, i dunno. So, any idea what the actual purpose of it is, and how to even know what to set it at?

1.) Thanks for leaving the compressor in bypass for a LONG TIME allowing us the hear the difference between IN & OUT!! So many demos I've listened to don't do this. 2.) I never realized that the on/off switch was actually the bypass. I guess I always have it in the on position and use the bypass in my DAW. This is funny!! 3.) Great job. Your video brings me closer to cracking the code on this plugin.
