I recently put a set of Tonerider Alnico II Classics in a budget LP style guitar I got. They sound great! I keep A/B comparing them to other guitars I have, one with a Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz combo, and another with Bare Knuckle Old Guards, and these hold their own against those and are perhaps preferable in some regards. It's really too close to call. I also have guitars with Tonerider Alnico IV Classics, Tonerider Vintage Plus Tele, and Tonerider Rebel 90's, and they all sound incredible. I think Toneriders are great pickups and not just for the price. They are great, period. And I have a number of Seymour Duncan models, as well as several Mojotones, which are also great. But overall, I would go with Tonerider in most instances. They really are that good.

Hey Matt, I love your playing and tone. I am thinking about getting this humbucker for the neck for a Tele I’m building that will have a korina body with a roasted maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Do you think this humbucker would match up well with the Tonerider Alnico 2 Blues Tele bridge pickup? I want a versatile Tele for country and Blues, and I think I rather have a humbucker in the neck than a traditional single coil.
@mattrobinsonАй бұрын
@@eckhardt76 cheers, in a tele neck position I would go for the Tonerider Birmingham especially if your using the standard 250k pots. The alnico ii is a warm pickup and I would worry it could get muddy with 250k Pots. The Birmingham is practically the same pickup but just brighter.

Great demo. Nice playing. I look for lead tones when searching for amps. Most amps can do the crunch or heavy crunch stuff. I own this and I own the DSL20. I like the DSL20 better. The DSL20 is more versatile IMO. The SV20 has a unique crunch power chord thing going on that I like (Kansas, Free/Bad Co, Foreigner) but the workhorse amp with the ability to sound very close to an 800, the DSL20 is the one I think is the killer of the Marshall minis. 1/2 the price, not M.I.UK. but Vietnam. @@cyberpunk409 Oh no i could never crank it like that without an attenuator ha ha. I’m using a fryette power station to keep the volume around general talking volume levels. Thanks very much, very nice of you. Yeah the Marshall circuit seems to love a clean boost for some extra compression and sustain.
