Silver absolutely disinfects. It's ability to keep water untainted has been known for thousands of years. Though the specifics of microbiology were unknown at the time, they could see, smell, & put 2 + 2 together when it came to tainted water & sickness, so the ancient Greeks & Romans particularly preferred silver for drinking vessels. Basically everywhere in the world silver was discovered & purified, it was used as drinking & ceremonial water holding vessels.

Water quality can be quite sketchy, particularly out west with mineral content or in old urban areas with the possibility of heavy metals. We've used the Brita pitchers for years because our coffee and iced tea taste much better when we use the "filtered" water.

Great video!!! Water filtration which can become a health and safety issue definitely deserves this type of deep dive video. I've been saying for years that these brands that have made millions could easily afford to get certified but they don't because they know they won't pass. It has nothing to do with the certs being expensive. With everything we've learned about Berkey I'm not sure why anyone would still use it or similar un-certified brands other than brand loyalty. And brand loyalty only ever benefits the company. If you're going to use a uncertified filtration system why waster the money, might as well make one yourself you aren't all that concerned about it actually working, save some money.
@waterfilterguru20 сағат бұрын
Thanks for your comment, and I'm glad you liked the video. You nailed it - the only reason these brands refuse to get even one performance certification is because they know their filters will fail & they won't be able to make the same claims which are used to justify inflated costs.

To date, in terms of water improvement of our generally very safe and clean water in Scotland, I landed on a Berkefeld filter with ceramic units. It is decanted into bottles and kept in the fridge, ready for drinking and cooking. That takes care of some "negatives" you wouldn't normally see and the chlorine smell and taste, which is more and more apparent. You used to not be aware of it at all, but we all know they're dealing with more "stuff" now in the treatment plants. We don't have fluoride (thank goodness), but I'll deal with that if we ever do. We originally bought a Berkey (at much greater cost), which came with parts missing and completely failed the dye tests I did when I finally got them, at which point I sent it back (a supplier via Amazon). To date, we have never been refunded the circa £450 spent, nor the extra money I spent sourcing parts. I think we were scammed, so beware. I always have bottled water ready to go and a large stock of water purification tablets to use for all other sources, including water from the water bob I keep in the bathroom and the water butts outside. I also have a variety of other things, like colloidal silver and hydrogen peroxide, etc. If I had to use an external or otherwise contaminated water source, I'd mechanically filter it, then filter it and then boil and cool it. Boiling, at the end of the day, if pretty foolproof, but you have to have preps available to do that if the power goes out. If I couldn't boil the water, I'd use the tablets. Relying on a single method of cleaning and purifying water isn't the best way to go. You have to evaluate the risk and take the appropriate steps.

So if the chlorine breaks down the bacteria, viruses, etc, then what happens to all of their genetic material in the water, little "skeletons" if you will. Yup youre drinking that, just because we may not have a test to show it, and the bits and pieces are too small to see, doesnt mean they rent there. So you might not get the result of the bacterial/virus/etc, but there might still be some kind of affect from the genetic waste

endocrine disruptor, the claim was not that it was changing the biological sex of people, you kinda built a strawman and argued against it. It is a FACT by many studies, that many of the chemicals in our lives, not just water, has a corollary link to low Testosterone in men, and other issues in female reproduction. I think it would be had to argue that the homo- bi- alter- sexual population is growing, along with the desire to identify as a different than biological sex. Is it not a causation, and it might be social in nature, but part of that social could be an influence of these known environment affects.
@waterfilterguruКүн бұрын
I didn't build the strawman, just reporting on it 🫡
@mythoughtsonfaith1031Күн бұрын
@@waterfilterguru This is more OP-ED than reporting. Using "crazy" in the title shows you are offering opnion. In this case the claim by those cited is that chemicals in the water are affecting the sexuality and reproductive health. You then switch to the frog gender change, which is cited by the conspiracy theorists. Thats you building the strawman. You then defeat the strawan by showing evidence from authoritative sounding sources stating that no chemicals can cause sex change in humans, and that to connect frogs and humans is dumb. EVEN though frogs were once used as a pregnancy test once upon a day.. fact check it. Then to show credibility maybe? you show evidence that chemicals do have effects on reproductive health. WHich actually supports the claims of the theorists, which you are calling crazy? Maybe you did this not really knowing you did, but even in a discussion argumentative tactics are used intuitively if not consciously But like I said, I love your vids and find tremendous value to them.

Hi...question...we live in rural Montana and we have arsenic in our well water. We have had it tested a couple of times. Between the Aquatru Classic model or the Carafe model, with this specific water (and dangerous) issue, do you have a recommendation of which one would be best? And for the Carafe model, it looks like the waste water goes back into the water holding tank vs in the Classic model it looks like there is a separate waste water tank. Which is best or more safe?
@waterfilterguruКүн бұрын
Hi thanks for your comment! Great questions. First, do you know what state the arsenic is in? Since it's coming from a well, it may not necessarily be in the As V state, which RO is capable of treating. If As III, oxidation my be required as well As for how the Aquatru systems work, you are correct that water is recirculated in the 'dirty' water tank. This is how all countertop ROs work, and why it's vitally important to empty the tank before refilling

@waterfilterguruКүн бұрын
You have a couple options to reduce fluoride: 1) Add an additional fluoride removal cartridge filter downstream of a tank based system (like the one in this video). Something like this geni.us/WJAFPBP OR 2) Install a different whole house tank based system, specific for fluoride removal like the US Water Systems BodyGuard fluoride specific system geni.us/N8diO6 OR 3) Use a point of use filter to remove the fluoride from your drinking water. I'd recommend a reverse osmosis system like the Cloud RO geni.us/9ClI8J3 or Waterdrop G3 geni.us/rQekgwp or even a water filter pitcher like the Clearly Filtered pitcher geni.us/VsUZHW1

The system is not working after doing that ,so I tried priming again,using your method. If they are already primed would the filter sweat or not? How long do i hold them under the faucet before I should expect to see sweating? They did not sweat at all. Thank you.

The sweating only happens when the pores inside the filter fill with water and air is forced out. If the filter is already primed you won't see it sweat.

I like the Aquatru Carafe model but it’s a RO. I don’t like the fact that it leaves water without good minerals. I’m looking for a non RO model that tackles heavy metals and chlorine/ chloride without adding nasty stuff to my water and that uses a safe media to filter my water ( not silver, not aluminum, not weird chemicals) ideally something like carbon block or GAC or activated charcoal. I have been looking for different models but they all have a big con imo.

The issue of demineralized/ low mineral content water like RO or distilled water used for consumption is easily solved with remineralization. Many modern RO systems, including Aquatru, now offer integrated remineralization filters which do this automatically. I tested it, you can see the minerals it added back here kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZOQXoyqi7dlhtk Here's an article all about remineralization with additional manual methods to consider: waterfilterguru.com/how-to-remineralize-reverse-osmosis-water/ Reverse osmosis and distillation are the two process which provide the most broad contaminant reduction. No filter that uses only adsorption media will ever provide as thorough treatment.
