Been watching this video doing a head gasket myself kinda wish there was an easy way to plug the sensors and starter below the lower intake in without having to take it back out if you leave the engine in the car they’re pretty much impossible to get to 😂

Good job dude... Make sure the gasket at the back of the hood/ fire wall is sealed across it's full length, and drill 2 1/8 weep holes at the bottom of GEM module so water can escape, if it finds its way back into the GEM again eventually, it will.. btw the glass installation of the rear window, and the windshield, are notorious for leaking due to improper amount of sealant used at the factory, on the 10th gen trucks in particular. Great job, and great video too. ✌️❤️😁

@Auto Fix Thanks for the video. And BTW, that is a beautiful corolla wagon(they don't make them like that anymore, unfortunately) but there's one thing You should do before draining the gearbox: Locating & breaking open the filler plug first. I used to work at an oil change/fluid change shop, and a few of us(including myself) at one point or another drained out a manual transmission, differential, or transfer case BEFORE locating, & breaking open the filler plug, and in the rare instance(thankfully) that none of us couldt get the filler plug open, we ended up in a world of hurt. The best we could do was try and pump the right amount of fluid back up into the drivetrain component without going over or under the proper fluid level & causing a mess in the process.

Great video !! I had a lot of the same issues on my 99 Expedition. Car tried to turn itself on, and burned out the starter, dash lights wouldn't turn off, wipers going crazy, same speedo issue as you! Battery kept going bad when the car was off. Finally took it to an auto shop to see where the parasitic draw was and it was the GEM module! All makes sense now. I'm glad I figured this out in summer so I can work on resealing the window before winter comes.

If it's a greasable ball joint you really should add grease. There is a bare minimum in it from the factory, but not enough to last in my opinion. Always add grease.

Hello, thanks for the video, quick question I’m trying remount the new starter on and the top bolt threads no problem, but the bottom bolt seems like somehow it’s not long enough? I pulled the starter off and put the bottom bolt in and threaded it to be sure that there’s nothing wrong.. is this something to do with alignment of the starter?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 14 күн бұрын
Yeah it can be the alignment of the starter, make sure you don't have the wrong bolt, and make sure you don't have the wrong starter. If it fits with the original starter but not the new one, somethings wrong with the starter

If you use the new filter box on the old filter while unscrewing it makes less mess imo either way is good 2:56 an 3:52 you can pre fill if you let it soak in the baffle material for like 2min
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 24 күн бұрын
Thank you! I pre fill to some extent but also keep in mind that engines do keep some oil in them ready to go so even if you don't fill the filter 100%, it'll fill up fast enough to not cause damage.

Why did Toyota put all the long bolts in backwards? Do you think it would be ok when doing this job to reinstall all the long bolts from the front side so the trailing arms and subframe don't need to be removed the next time (if there is ever a next time)?

If you use 50% acetone and 50% Automatic transmission fluid instead of WD-40 or any spray rust repellent it works better. The acetone eats the rust almost immediately and the atf helps it wick down the threads because it thin. Also if you can hit it with a hammer first it will shock the rust loose. The go tighten just a little bit and then loose. If it starts to bind go tight then loose then tighten then BTW, ALWAYS USE A 6 POINT SOCKET.. NEVER USE A 12 POINT SOCKET.. If you don't have a 6 point socket go buy one,or rent one, or borrow one... You'll thank me later
