Yeah, this was not the original model of the Clie, I think this came out a couple of years later. I LOVED this device, though they were certainly not dust or water proof. Still, you could get a lot done with this before the smartphone.

07:00 - I didn't have credit back in the day and couldn't get a cell phone. I got something like this, so I could have a Skype phone number to get calls. I would just go to the library cafe where you could talk and use their WiFi for calls and to check messages.

When Japan was great! I miss my old Panasonic mobile phone, Sharp was pretty good too, Sony Ericsson's were not my favorite but they were good. I have stucked with Samsungs now. Why did Sony stopped producing smartphones anyway?.....

The most important part is if you give authority to a machine over your life in any capacity you must fully own it and have full control over from hardware to software.

I used to have a Zen Neeon player. It had a smaller OLED display and a metal case. It sounded okay overall, but the high frequencies tended to sound a bit tinny in some songs.

That Phison chip is a parallel NAND <-> CompactFlash interface controller, I suspect. Looks like Sony integrated a whole CF on the board for backwards compatibility with whatever player MCU they were using I guess. That could be one of the reasons for the Phison IC to be manufactured in a quad flat package. It was designed early on an probably starting to go obsolete in 2007. Looking back it's interesting to see that the industry was still very secretive or well before companies hosted stuff on the internet. They never uploaded a data sheet on it or it just disappeared into oblivion. Phison is still out there.

Creative made some of the best mp3 players in the 2000s. For those of us that thought iPods were too expensive and trendy and locked down, Creative's players had more freedom and straightforward functionality. No messing with proprietary software, just drag and drop your files into folders. Plus they tended to have more features than iPods, and were way more affordable to boot.

That really speaks in your favour: use a cracked version rather than the open source version. You also don't have a K750, it's a w810i and the hardware is different from the K750.

I showed my beautiful K750 alongside the cool W810. Double trouble! Or two peas in a pod. Or in two minds. Tea for two? :-P
