Hi, have you ever known of anyone who's been successful in adding a late model head unit in a Saturn Sky? I'd prefer to add a genuine GM product and have my factory buttons work on my steering wheel and also have Bluetooth & GPS functionality. Thanks!
@Kaswells_Kappa
@Kaswells_Kappa 10 сағат бұрын
Not to my knowledge, no. What most of the Kappa community has done, including myself, is purchase an aftermarket unit along with the necessary accessories to replace the radio. Crutchfield can give you everything you need, including harnesses and mounts, to ease the replacement. Most of the newer GM vehicles also use different software to communicate with its systems. Examples of this include GD2S, which was implemented sometime 2010-2013 depending on the vehicle. And have switched once again to a software called Ultifi. Granted, you could buy a harness to transfer said data between the new radio and the vehicle like most aftermarket radios. The only issue would be to find or craft this harness to do so. The easiest and simplest way everyone has found is to just buy what is already available. Most aftermarket radios have many functionalities nowadays and can tack all minds of data if set up right. This includes Bluetooth, GPS, Phone Connectionality between IPhone and Android, and much more. I prefer Pioneer but others have also used Kenwood, Sony, Alpine, and JVC. I hope this helps!

Absolutely! The early stages include your vehicle idling rougher than usual. As it gets worse, you could experience misfires. You typically replace them when you replace spark plugs, but I tend to replace them when the engine starts to idle rough. Even then, coil packs tend to last a long while as well.

(For anyone coming to this channel, be sure to check out his Wix site. Tons of fantastic information!) Clear, concise, and massively helpful. Some questions: 1.) Was that for a 2008 2.0 LNF? If not, are the coil packs universal between the 2.4 and the 2.0? And if so, would it be possible to include a link to the product you bought if you purchased them through Amazon or some other site? 2.) Were there some problems that you discovered that convinced you to change the packs or did you change them because they reached a coil pack mileage limit? And if it's because of the latter (mileage limit), what mileage should they be changed at? Every time you upload a video, I always make sure to watch it because even in the videos you've made that covered things that were generally "simple issues," you always include things that I either didn't know or never considered. Looking forward to your LS swap video. HA! ;.)
@Kaswells_Kappa
@Kaswells_Kappa 2 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! Yes, the engine showcased in the video was a 2008 2.0L LNF Engine. However, the Ignition Coils are interchangeable between the 2.0L LNF and the 2.4L LE5 Engines. I typically buy my parts from either gmpartsstore.com, a GM dealership in Nevada, or gmpartsgiant.com, a trusted company. Ignition Coils are still readily available to my knowledgeable so there shouldn't be an issue finding them. Just search for the part number 12638824 in your browser or the above sites, and you can order as many as you need. EBay is also a good choice for a cheaper price. As far as issues, there weren't really any issues with these Ignition Coils. However, they were showing signs of wear. For example, the engine will idle a tad rougher. In a worse case scenario, it could fail to send electricity to the spark plug. As for when to replace them, it's recommended to change them when you change the spark plugs (typically every 100,000 Miles / 160,000 KM), unless you feel the need to otherwise. Thank you so much! I always try to include as much information as possible. Even if it's for the smallest replacement. Knowledge is power. An LS swap isn't in the current future, but one sure could dream! Haha! But no, that's still way above my pay grade at the moment. Maybe in time, though. Hope this helps, and once again thank you so much!

If you follow these instructions and remove the entire fender, you risk misaligning the fender upon reassembly. Simply and gently pull the inner frame away from the car, do not 'bend' it. You can slide the battery out horizontally.
@Kaswells_Kappa
@Kaswells_Kappa 6 күн бұрын
There are two ways the Kappa community has come to adopt when removing the battery. The first and intended way of removing the battery was given by GM, and it was done through the Fender as seen here. It is also included included in the Service Manual. The second and unintended way was through the Wheelhouse Liner and was created by the community. Both ways are used evenly by the community by about a 50/50 split. Some prefer the liner method, and others prefer the fender method. There are benefits and risks to both methods. The benefit of the fender method is that you don't have to lift the vehicle. The downside is that you risk misaligning the fender. The benefit of the liner method is that you don't risk misaligning the Fender. The downside is that you risk damaging the Fender if you lift the vehicle improperly. In the end, it all comes down to preference. I prefer the Fender method as it was intended through the manual. Soon, I hope to redo this video and show both methods and let the community decide on how they wish to remove the battery.

Replacing the cap is one thing, but why is the cap bulging to begin with? Is the brake fluid reservoir normally under pressure that causes this? (I know nothing about how the brake system works, so I don't know if that's supposed to be a pressurized system or not.)
@Kaswells_Kappa
@Kaswells_Kappa 11 күн бұрын
So, yes, the brake system is a pressurized system, and some vehicles even have brake lines rated for up to several hundred PSI. Some vehicles, even up to a thousand PSI or more, under certain circumstances. However, I'm not sure what our system is rated for. But yes, over time, this pressure does its work on the brake cap and causes the separation we see in the video. Eventually, if unchecked, it can leak or suddenly give out and burst. So it's always important to do maintenance on even the smaller parts, even if it's a reservoir cap!

At first blush, I'd say that little button underneath the steering wheel is a kill switch for the ignition to prevent theft (Chrisfix did a piece on those systems awhile back, so your button could be an iteration of that and might also explain the "wonkiness" you mentioned toward the end of your video depending on how it was wired / installed). I'm betting that, once it's pressed, that little light changes. I double-dog dare ya to click it and then try to start the car. If it doesn't start, there's your answer. If the car explodes, the KZbin community witnesses you during your journey into the fine Halls of Valhalla. How many miles does she have? Might be time to do either the water pump / thermostat and or the timing chain. All that aside, it's good to see this beauty being taken in by someone who will undoubtedly take care of her. I hate seeing vehicles being mistreated. To me, every vehicle I've ever had was like a damn family member or pet. Ha.

That's also what I first thought it might be! But, pushing it seems to do jack squat. The light would also pulse on and off when we first bought it up to the first two weeks. Now it doesn't do a thing either. I've wanted to tap it while running, but my wife made it clear she would finish me off herself if the car exploded. So, it's safe to say I'll be following all the wiring to see what's connected to what and bring everything back to stock. The mileage is only 80,000, so I would say there's still some life in the pump, but I'm also prepared for any unexpected turns. The engine sounds good, no off tunes or tones, and everything sounds smooth. The coolant is a tad high at times, but I'm contributing that to an improperly filled system. I'm planning on doing maintenance and replacing fluids with quality supplements. My wife is excited and wants to learn as much as she can and how to do anything and everything. Which, of course, gets me excited as well. I'm also excited to be able to take care of it as well. It always brings a sense of accomplishment, seeing a mistreated vehicle getting another shot at its life. I would almost say heartwarming. Thanks for the great laugh as well, valhalla gave me a real good laugh!

@@Kaswells_Kappa, sounds like tracing the wiring would be the best option then. It's strange that it was blinking for a couple weeks only to now see it dead and makes me think about it being on its own battery if that's the case but I'm sure you'd see a different battery somewhere if that existed. Be on the lookout for any tracking devices when you track everything down.

Anyways, good reliable cars, just, for anyone thinking of getting one, get as little electrical implaments as possible, they will not last, I have a base model g5, other than the auto transmission, and I've had the guages decide to do what they want all at once, and the front speakers stop working, which is really annoying because there is now no chime for flashers or the key being left in the ignission, anyways, good reliable simple cars, but get ones with little to no options

It's good to hear it's popping up for the other makes, I've been meaning to add the Pontiac G4s, G5s, and Pursuits to the descriptions since they're the same cars. I'm glad to hear you got the sensor replaced, and yeah, I always recommend using OEM whenever possible unless it's something with higher standards or else they'll give you issues. This one's been really good to us. We've had it for years and have only replaced a few things on it, like the Lower Control Arms, PCV Hose, and Thermostat. Not too shabby if you ask me. I agree with trying not to add any electrical implementations, or else you start to get dodgy. But then again, that's what modding is all about! Especially if you have the 2.0L. You just HAVE to! Definitely recommended getting that speaker replaced though, need to have those chimes for safety reasons!

Currently, I do not, no. I am planning on remaking this video and even started filming to help the viewer get a better layout of how the front of the engine looks so they know what to remove, whats in the way, or which side is best to start on. This video is old, and I no longer do things this way, so I apologize for any inconvenience that may have brought you. When I do upload the rendition, I will personally tag you here. I will say, just to give some pointers to and help you out a bit, if you have a Redline/GXP start on the drivers side and remove the drivers side intercooler. This will open a giant hole for you to reach the belt and tensioner. The P/S belt will have to be done through the passenger side. If you have the Redline/GXP, remove the black rubber hose to get you some room. I hope this helps!

@@Kaswells_Kappa to me it seems like this would be 10 times easier from underneath. But it doesn't look like there's anything you can remove that would open any access. I have a 2009 Sky Redline.

It might be doable to try from underneath, but I believe you would have much less room in the end. You can ease access to the drive belt tensioner by removing the driver side intercooler and the P/S tensioner by removing the black turbo hose. With both removed, you should have a little more breathing room.

Thanks for the video! Do you think this is something a beginner could do?

Absolutely! Thank you for the kind words. Would I say it's possible to do? Yes, absolutely. Anyone can do it with the right instructions. BUT, if you aren't quite comfortable yet with handling certain work, I would take it to a mechanic.

Hi so quick question, this is how you would fix code P0137?

@Kaswells_Kappa Ай бұрын
It can be one solution, yes. A faulty O2 Sensor can cause a slew of codes like P0137 or even P2A01 (an upcoming video). But there can also be other problems that would flag this code such as faulty electrical equipment, worn wiring, faulty modules, or a bad computer. The simplest way to go is to replace whatever the code is associated with. Which, in this case, is the O2 Sensor. If that doesn't solve the problem, the next place to look would be the O2 Connector and then Wiring. Hope this helps!
