Hi Suzanne, first chance I have had to watch, really enjoyed this journey through your Sketchbooks and your encouragement to experimment and 'loosen up' when exploring art and design. Very inspiring for a beginner like myself, and I really liked your low-key style and approach. Look forward to more, thank you.

Well it will dry hard in there if you don't keep it wet. I was able to scrub it out so it's up to you and how much you keep an eye on the moisture level. I do like using this palette because my paints are always ready but it's up to you!

I just discovered the Jerrys Artarama here in Dallas. Eeek! Saw your video and am so excited to visit! Then i stumbled upon this video, and it's the first I've heard of non-toxic oil paint. (I obsess more about watercolor). Well, now you've done it!🤨 You've opened up a new art rabbit hole for me to fall into (on purpose of course 😅😂) and enabled me to feed my facination and curiosity. They look like it fells like suede. 😯 Gonna tell hubby it's all your fault. 🙈😅😝🤣 But seriously what colors / supplies would you recommend to start off with to play and experiment? 😅
@SuzanneAllardDesign29 күн бұрын
I'm so jealous!! I don't live near a big art store now. I don't know if they are non toxic, only that they are water soluble so you can mix them with water.

Can you please advice which acrylics one should buy for the first set. Your Nova bundle, or the Colden so flat set of six. Appreciate your input so much.
@SuzanneAllardDesignАй бұрын
I don’t like the golden set because of the color choices but you could start with fewer colors of either brand. Pick out two reds, two yellows, two blues (make sure they are different from each other), white and honestly that’s all you really need

When you draw in colored pencil on top of gouache, is it easy to get a nice dark crisp line? I want to experiment with the two mediums together without having to switch to acrylic. I've had trouble getting crisp lines with colored pencil on gouache but I suspect it's because the colored pencils I'm using are low quality.

Hi Suzanne, I am considering signing up to this sketch book class as it’s on a great discount currently, but is it aimed at complete beginners ? After the initial talk through sketch books and materials, do you go step by step on how to create all the 31 different designs in the sketch book course? I know it may be obvious to more experienced painters but I know I need a more step by step approach to learning.

I love your classes! Thanks for such positive work and sharing all of your process. I noticed you dont wash your brush in between dipping it in color. Does this effect your paints long term? I am a bit of a perfectionist about my paints and process since I came from Mostly doing watercolor before I discovered your classes. I worry that my paints will become muddy by not cleaning in between but I feel like it does break the flow to clean and make sure the brush is perfectly clean between plus the look is not as blended by cleaning in between. Would love to know more about this topic or if you have a video that would be great too.
@SuzanneAllardDesign2 ай бұрын
That's a great question and good idea for a video! I just like to keep going, however, I will wipe if off on a paper towel sometimes, I've been doing this more lately. I do like that a bit of the other colors is in the brush to help harmonize but it does depend what kind of painting I'm doing. Thanks for taking my classes, I'm so glad you enjoy them!

Love what you say, l have an art room downstairs, full of everything!! Why don’t l go down there!! I tell others if you have a little space, start drawing, painting etc. This takes your mind off of things that are heavy and bringing you down!! Go start a project, and your mind mind will be so busy on drawing, painting etc. All those negative thoughts, go away ♥️♥️
@SuzanneAllardDesign2 ай бұрын
absolutely! I have negative thoughts too and am learning to let them be like a radio in the background or sit with the emotion beneath those feelings and then I'm more free of them. Feel the fear and do it anyway is my motto!
