I just wanted to say I absolutely love your style of painting! You have brought out the inner child in me to be inspired to go back to my teen years and paint abstract again. And I'm loving it! I had to laugh because our art journeys parallel one another. I too have done, and still do, all the fiber arts. I even have a dirty fleece hanging around that still needs to be washed! I got into book binding and journal making during COVID then started watercolor painting soon after. It was natural to say to myself "why don't I just make my own art journals". There is something so satisfying about painting into a journal that you hand made. Thank you so much for rekindling that inner child ❤

Sorry I haven't replied! That is so funny - we are creators following similar threads. I just went to the Montpelier Fiber Festival which I used to come home with loads and I only bought some yarn because my art studio is full!

Oh the Montpellier Fiber Festival. That is a danger zone for me. I haven’t been in a few years which is probably a good thing!

I've been binging your classes on Skillshare and I'm glad to see you have a lot of content here too. I love the idea of wearing gloves so that you can finger paint! Additionally, I might wind up with fewer red white purple green yellow and blue streaked hands. I love how you show your process so openly. I just still cannot get over how you get from the beginning of the painting where there's just a few streaks of color and then you always turn it into something so beautiful

Aww, thanks so much. That doesn't always happen but I've painted so much that over time, it happens more and more. Keep at it!

Do you usually list your supplies in the description? I am new to mix media and am trying to g to learn what can be used together. Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration and process with us. It’s the Instagram perfection that can keep people from accessing their own art journey because they feel overwhelmed and like they can never get to that level. I love watching process videos because I see that there is an “ugly” phase to every artwork. When I Keep going and practicing eventually I create something beautiful to me

Exactly! I am uploading a new video now and I talked about that. They are all ugly or at least awkward at several stages and we can't give up!

What I’ve been doing when I’m stuck is painting backgrounds sometimes some mark making and then gesso over or gesso and then experimenting with color mixing.

I love your classes! Thanks for such positive work and sharing all of your process. I noticed you dont wash your brush in between dipping it in color. Does this effect your paints long term? I am a bit of a perfectionist about my paints and process since I came from Mostly doing watercolor before I discovered your classes. I worry that my paints will become muddy by not cleaning in between but I feel like it does break the flow to clean and make sure the brush is perfectly clean between plus the look is not as blended by cleaning in between. Would love to know more about this topic or if you have a video that would be great too.

That's a great question and good idea for a video! I just like to keep going, however, I will wipe if off on a paper towel sometimes, I've been doing this more lately. I do like that a bit of the other colors is in the brush to help harmonize but it does depend what kind of painting I'm doing. Thanks for taking my classes, I'm so glad you enjoy them!
