Northern California is more complicated to fish in. Southern California, particularly San Diego County is like fishing in the South and across the Midwest. Fish are hungry, aggressive at times and act predictably. I have found NorCal bass to be easily spooked and the estuary-run steelhead are extremely wary of hooks. Crappie and bluegill are the most cooperative almost everywhere, but if you want a trophy fish, try grass shrimp for sturgeon, white and green, on the deep stretches of Suisun Bay near the Carquinez Strait.
@CramersPage5 күн бұрын
Hmm interesting. I don’t fish much for other species but sturgeon is a bucket list fish for me. There’s techniques for fishing in Northern California that guys use all the time that I would use probably 25% of the time. I just have to get better with fishing out here. Time on the water is key. Casey I feel your pain. Yes it can be tough fishing here in Nor Cal but belive me you will have those days where things will start to click and the pieces will come together. For grass lakes I have been doing very well on a Carolina rig with some type of plastic worm that floats so that the bass can see it above the grass. Give that try hopefully that helps.
