@@greyhikes5236 Thats exactly what happened to me on the East side too! I was starting to get a bit worried as I had started to walk across that peat bog hag jigsaw puzzle section between the loch and the 4x4 track that takes you down to Glen Coul bothy, of course I was coming the opposite direction when the mist rolled right in down the valley towards the loch and trying to keep landmarks in sight was tough! @GermanBadGuy the inner was out of shape for the outer on the Asta, on the xmid it was OK but had to gather in some material at the sides. I set off on the CWT beginning on Friday, May 17 of this year, loved every single minute of it and the weather was great, however by the time I got to Kinlochewe I was sitting having a coffee and decided, I don't just want to do the CWT, I decided I am going to enjoy every minute of doing the CWT. And the forecast had changed for the worse. I had 6 beautiful days of sunshine. That's what you should be aiming for. I saw for a good 3 day weather window and went for it. It gave me another three after that. So here's what I did. 1. I decided to go home and pick up the second half from where I left off the same time next year. I can't be bothered with the midges this year now, so I'll stick to the munros until the same time next year. 2. Walked the 9 miles to Achnasheen and caught the train home. SO Don't beat yourselves about not doing the whole thing in one. (You'll come to see that as a blessing) Doing it in sections will be much more fun if you take my advice. AND The CWT is too beautiful to be treated as a challenge. The CWT wants everyone to enjoy it, in all it's beauty. Year after year, section after section is the best way to do it. That may not be practical for people from overseas but it is for us in Scotland. All the best and treasure your experience. You both still have more to come.

I have both Lanshans, and yes you can lower it to the ground, and peg the doors down, that's my standard 'wind configuration' for it. I've modded mine with bigger/longer guys and bungees which do away with the silly rams horn thing. But yes, only problem with that is it does flap greatly, and of course, if you don't mod the guys to get a better ridgeline, you can get the inner/outer touching.

I see you missed out filming the "fun part" right next to the river at Knoydart... 😉 At Carnach, we had camped right in front of the ruins. Was a bit drier than at Sourlies, plus we were early enough at low tide still to cross there easily towards Carnach. The next morning at around 7:00 - 7:30, our first challenge was crossing the small stream that had grown a lil' bit. I see you searched your way around it and had to jump over smaller parts of it. We just walked through it with our desert boots and neoprene socks. That was the first minute of our day to Barrisdale... We've found out though that neoprene socks are best for when it's not too warm. The Barrisdale day was perfect for let's say, 3mm neoprene socks (provided that the seams do not cause any chafing or pressure). When it's warmer, we found it's more comfortable to let the trekking socks (Bridgedale/Darn Tough) get wet and to put on waterproof ones (SealSkinz) around camp. Otherwise the feet would get too hot. Cheers, The owner of the 'teepee' (MLD SuperMid)

Just found the channel Al and Sandi, after Al pointed me to it. (I think that was at either Kinlock Hourn or Shiel Bridge.) Nice to see you also came across the same adder in Cona Glen as we did a few days earlier. It was sunny then though, so we almost stepped onto it when it was getting its tan in the middle part of the track. An Aussie who has lived in Scotland for 15 years, later on told us this black adder is deadly... We were able to cross the stream to Glendessary on the left side, where there's actually a path. This made a huge difference! Further down, the trail becomes a kind of track and then the track crosses to the other side. We were even able to keep our feet dry. 🙂 As a Dutch, it's still hard to follow the Scottish accent. But I'm trying!
