why not just send the third item from each belt to the center belt? or countless other more practical solutions tailored to the needs of the facility without wasting such excessive space and money on 6 intermediate conveyors, 2 3-way splits, etc

Yep, balancers always take a lot of space. When possible, the best solution is to avoid using them. But every once in a while it's useful. They can also be a lot more compact than this example, which I intentionally spread out for demonstration. Thanks for the comment!

Personally i deal with the power issues in my factory by doubling my power production any time my maximum usage reaches my maximum production. This giving space to expand any way i need to and not deal with fine tuning a factory that is still growing and needs more power anyways
@Gaming_with_Doc4 күн бұрын
Absolutely true- I don't bother balancing my initial factories, either.
@honuswscruggs53565 күн бұрын
Your aluminum factory now has two sources of water: the extractor water and the process (or waste) water from producing the aluminum scrap. You tied the process water into the input line using a simple junction. This will work short-term, but it will quickly back up because the process water will not flow through to be reused as quickly as its generated. There are a few solutions to this involving either diverting the process water to some other factory where it's sure to be used (such as coal power production) or diverting it to the production of some sinkable solid good (e.g., producing and sinking Pure Iron Ingots in a refinery). But the simplest solution is to build a junction that preferentially selects the process water for re-use in the aluminum production, only taking water from the extractor after all the waste water has flowed through. I'd recommend Googling "MkGalleon's Pipeline Manual" and checking out the "Variable Priority Junctions" on page 16. This will show you a design for a junction that will allow you to fully reuse the water from your factory. Best wishes.

To control power you can also organise power grid to have seperate lines to each factory and if you have short on power you can cut off the kne you don't need that much at the moment

Great comment! This also prevents cascade failures to take down the entire grid if there's a problem in just one sector.

Something to be aware of: the next step of Project Assembly doesn't actually do anything yet. Also the recipes for the project parts will be changes for 1.0. The full release is currently in closed beta, so it may be worth waiting with doing space elevator parts for now. Also the hover pack takes a ton of power, be aware

I remember I settled on this design a couple years ago when trying to figure out every combination of 1 through 10 inputs and 1 through 10 outputs. I love this strategy because it perfectly splits everything, but one fault it has is that it slightly reduces your input. Usually this doesn't matter but is there a nice way to solve this?
@Gaming_with_Doc12 күн бұрын
It reduces your input if you overload the middle conveyor where the extra line is routed back in. The only solution I know to fix this is to upgrade your conveyors or otherwise reconfigure your machines. That's the biggest limitation of the prime splitter array. Thanks for the comment!

The issue with this solution is that an assembler takes 2 inputs, so if you build with only one of the inputs in consideration, the other one will not be correct, and you will need to over/under-clock anyways
@Gaming_with_Doc15 күн бұрын
Very true. The math gets very complex once you are trying to balance a bunch of machines. Other methods become essential. Thanks for the comment!
@MrLordSpirit16 күн бұрын
Or just downclock your constructor to 12/min :P
@Loot_OW17 күн бұрын
Heyy Mr. Doc, loving the blind playthrough so far, and its really nice to see an honest take on the game instead of just megastructures and huge nuclear setups. Screws are a huge hassle to ship around via belts and you might find it easier to ship rods around and make them onsite, its alot more compressed on the belt. ex: for reinforced plates, you can run the screws though its own crafter at 40/minute, and straight into the assembler. for max efficiency you can also underclock the assembler to 66% for eat screws at exactly 40/min, or at least pretty close. Using manifold style splitters for both inputs goes a long way even at mid-tier belts, easier to ship around and saves some power. Hope this helps!
@Gaming_with_Doc17 күн бұрын
That's actually a great idea! It makes a lot of sense to leave them as rods until they hit their final destination. Thanks for the comment!

It's possible! I've being watching Kibitiz for a few years and he has being playing throughout the development of the game. He just ended his last season after 2 years building his factories! A lot of good tips too on base building, etc. Is all about input and output and calculating how many resources you gonna need and production machines you gonna need to produce a determinate resource on a reasonable pace. There's also a in-game calculator, so you can do the math more easily without needing to open a calculator outside of the game.

I always found that making plastic containers with the resin then packing water to put into the awesome sink was my way to deal with the storage issues of all my items. I also used to put a splitter with more Awesome Sinks helped my storage issues as well, and got me tickets too :). sometimes just getting a sink to drain all your excess products is just what has to happen.
