Hey mate just wondering, does your “Complete Modern Gothic Calligraphy Toolkit” come with the marble brush set needed to achieve that style or will I need to purchase separately?

Spend the same amount of money on an actual desk top and a drawing pad and youll be able to go so much further. Not to mention it will last longer than 3 year before Apple makes it obsolete

@BlackletterFoundry20 күн бұрын
Thans so much for your feedback, I'm so happy this was helpful! Great question - for this one I was using a larger HUION lightbox (there's a link on my toolbox page at BlackletterTools.com) but I've since got a smaller one that was around $20 and it works great, too. 😃

so maybe you can help me out with something.. i have some og TR 52gsm paper in their 'tomoe river,' printed on the front cover of their notebooks..back cover, on the inside, bottom, is printed 'Sakae TP SAKE TECHNICAL PAPER CO., LTD.' THAT paper is the ORIGINAL. SUPER smooth with all my nibs. I just bought a bunch of Wonderland 222 notebooks, because they stated on their site that they are using the original, 'Tomoegawa'(?) 52gsm paper. but when i just wrote in it the paper feels quite rougher than my Sakae TP notebook.. could they be saying 'original', but its actually from machine #9? because this paper is nowhere NEAR as silky smooth while writing on it compared to my Sakae TP notebook..it's pretty disappointing..and maybe misleading? =\
@BlackletterFoundry20 күн бұрын
That's a great question - it does sound like perhaps they're using one of the other iterations of the paper (perhaps the second one and they're considering that one the "original"). I also found the second one to have a rougher texture so that does sound logical. I'm not aware of a place that still has the real original paper any more - they used to have some notebooks at Nanami paper but they were selling them at quite a premium and I think they're gone now. It's definitely sad to have lost this gem of a paper! It's still my favorite. I have found Canson Marker Paper to work well, but to my knowledge it's only sold in pads and I haven't used it too much with fountain pens - mainly the broad nib calligraphy pens. Sorry to hear you encountered this - it it possible to return the notebooks if they're not using the actual original paper?

If I bump my dpi up to 300, from 72, Does that lower the number of max layers?
@BlackletterFoundry20 күн бұрын
Excellent question, Freddy! If you specify your canvas size with pixel dimension then Procreate ignores the DPI specification (from what I can tell, it would probably be more informative if that field was just disabled in this case). If you specify the canvas size using the other measurements available (cm, inches, etc.) then increasing the DPI will reduce the number of layers available.

I have not watched this video, but I am very confused as to why this video was even made as the BEST iPad for Procreate is the best iPad, the M4 iPad Pro 13". The 11" model is equally great for people on more of a budget or who find the 13" model too cumbersome, but for the best experience when using Procreate the better processor of the M4 iPad Pro means faster rendering and less lag and the real estate of the 13" is easier to work with needing less zooming in and out. Also I believe you need to have the iPad Pro in order to use the newer Pencil Pro with its upgraded features.

i'm a bit late on this video, but YES PLEASE to the ink reviews.... and anything about how you get different fun effects with your inks (gradient, etc), what kinds work best and won't wreck your fancy pilot pens (I am in Aus, so everything is alot more expensive!!)
@BlackletterFoundry20 күн бұрын
Thanks very much for your comment, Erin! I'll definitely keep this in mind for future videos! 😃 Regarding the pens, do mean inks that would damage the Pilot Parallel pens or fountain pens?

Thank you so much, Renee! I really appreciate it and am always happy to share the honest experience behind all of this! I think it's easy to get the impression that these things come super easy when everyone just shows the highlight reel, but I was genuinely surprised when I realized how long it had been and was second guessing myself through the whole process. We all have our self-doubts and I'm a big believer that when we share our common experiences with this stuff that it's hopefully encouraging for everyone to keep creating and making art. I'm sure your creations are awesome!! 😃

10:12 habits to start when creating a file, ongoing so backup is less tedious: - save a PDF to Apple's Books app - naming art in canvas info where you also write your name as the creator. - save file - export one each as .procreate and PSD. - maintain a list of backups, dated, media type, where backup is saved. And label backup device by name and date. - Wishlist: - utility that allows me to print a directory list of what's saved to media. -
