I always appreciate your opinions. Spot on. I have the M2. I do use it more than my laptop, for now. However, I am just starting using Adobe to vectorize some of my work for scalability since I am planning to sell some of my designs digitally. I love my ipad and use it professionally and personally but if I ever want to print or make a product from my art it is my laptop that I need. I consider them complimentary, not singularly the end all of what is needed. And, yes, traditional writing instruments are the best, but I am getting lazy, they don't have streamline features or two finger tap to undo....although I have tried it many times.

Thanks so much for your kind words and sharing your thoughts, Susan, I really appreciate it! I completely understand your position - I'm in the same boat, although I find that I gravitate more to my laptop. I really like what you said about them being complimentary - that's very true. I feel like there's an opportunity where they could combine them into a single device, but not they way things are now with the different operating systems. And I liked your comment that traditional writing instruments don't have the two-finger tap to undo 😂 I've done that too out of reflex at times (not to mention trying to pinch to zoom on paper 😂). Still, it can be fun to see where unplanned things happen with the analog works 😃 Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! 😃

I’m looking to upgrade from my 2018 iPad Pro. It served me well. Many have shown an excessive amount of force to bend it; so, bend get is not an issue. Great video !

Thanks so much for your kind comment, I really appreciate it and I hope you get a lot of value from your upgrade! I've seen those videos as well that it does require excessive force to bend the devices which is reassuring. 👍 Thanks so much again! 😃

My disappointment too. 3:52 bad experience, the apple pencil pro not working on m2 pro ipad.
@BlackletterFoundry7 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😃 Yeah, I'm totally with you - when I saw the new features with the Pencil Pro I got pretty excited to try it for the stuff I make, but then my heart sank when they said it's not compatible with older devices! I feel like they could have found a way to make it work... It's similar to the "hover" feature that works with the M2 - I feel like that's also something that should be compatible with the M1 (the device I have) but it only works with the M2. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts 😃

Great video. Thanks. I’m glad you pointed out that the roll feature doesn’t work with Procreate yet. That was the big feature that had me thinking of upgrading. For now, I’ll stick with my 2021…which is working just fine.

Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah, that detail that the barrel roll isn't supported in Procreate yet really caught me by surprise, since it was in the event video and they didn't mention a delay that I caught. Totally agree that it's not worth upgrading now! Enjoy the great device you already have! 😃

Algorithm didn't treat this one too well... Great video

Yeah, you win some and lose some with the almighty Algorithm! Thanks so much for your feedback - it really means a lot and if you enjoyed it and found it even a little helpful then it's still always worth it 😃 Hope you're having a great day!

Thank you so much for this very down to earth review of both the new Apple products and their changing company ethos. I have the same iPad as you, it is the fourth one I have purchased over quite a few years now and really can’t justify buying another when all I want is a rotation feature on my iPencil. I also feel very disappointed and let down. (Apple is there anyway this can be adapted for all the people out there who have been so loyal to you?) Also BlackLetter Foundry I love your very easy to watch presentation style and the products you design so I look forward to seeing how you get on with the purchases and enjoy your morning coffee as I am as we speak. Wishing you success

Thank you so much for your super kind feedback and sharing your thoughts, Patricia! I really appreciate it 😃 I know exactly what you mean - I bought (and still have!) the very first iPad and others over the years. When I watched the event live and saw the rotation feature, I got really excited - then my heart sank when they said it's only compatible with the new devices. They say that it's because they moved the camera which impacted the magnetic charging, but it feels like they could have engineered a way to make it work by moving the charging to a different spot along the same edge or a different edge of the device. I just shared this in my latest video that I saw your kind comment on 😃 , but I was further surprised to find out that the rotation feature isn't even supported yet in Procreate! Can't thank you enough for your super kind words and support, Patricia, and I hope you're having a wonderful day!

Do you recommend a screen protector when drawing on ipad?
@BlackletterFoundry5 ай бұрын
That's a great question - I think it depends on personal preference. I don't use a screen protector and have just grown used to the smooth feel when I'm writing/drawing, but I know others like screen protectors - some feel that they add a little texture so it makes it feel closer to the experience of writing on paper (and also protects the screen 😃). One of my hesitations is that I've found that screen protectors make the iPad screen look a little worse (less sharp, less contrast, and as they accumulate scratches these problems are exacerbated). I personally don't use one, but I would say it's very much personal preference what you like best 😃

Great advice. My next leap would be an m1 or m2. Refurbished Now using 4th gen IPad

Thanks so much for your kind feedback! That sounds like a great plan! Those are absolutely very capable devices - I'm still quite happy with my M1 iPad 😃
