Nice solution (wow, it's already 9 years). I've got a more modern dual display meter; can't find any 0 ohm resistor or similar to make it differential. I use the meter shunt as part of the current measurement resistor. So I've got 80 milliohm of current sense resistors in series with the 20 milliohm meter shunt and the opamp measures the voltage drop over both. This way all grounds are on the same 0 V potential and I can measure both voltage and current. I also have an isolated 5V PSU for the meter. With this setup, I wouldn't even need the isolated PSU. But my experience is that it's always better. With a milliohm meter that I built, I couldn't get rid of ground offsets that introduced a measurement error. The solution was an isolated PSU for the meter.

Hi there!!.. I built a PSU based on your desing, so thank you!, I learn a lot!. I use ADCs & DACs, Arduino nano, LCD Display, keyboard. etc. I buy a more powerfull transformer now, and I started to have problems with the current sensing circuit, and maybe it has to do with me adding an R to A0, in the + of the OA equal to the feedback, ie, like in the V sense Op Amp circuitry. I´m reviewing this video, a you don't use that R in I sense , but you do in V sense... Please can you explain me why?... maybe that's where my problem comes from. Thank you again!!

if the resistance is ok from the plug to the gnd connector of the psu then remove the PCB and check underneath in the same way as I did in the video

This example should show how to read and write using the Arduino IDE github.com/AutomationDirect/P1AM-Examples/blob/master/P1AM-100_ModbusTCP_ModuleIO/P1AM-100_ModbusTCP_ModuleIO.ino it also shows it all connected to a MODBUS ethernet interface.

I've been eyeing a thermal camera like the Hikmicro for ages, but after checking out your two review videos, I gotta say, the P2 looks way clearer. What’s your take-do you think the P2 beats it? Thanks again, your reviews are top-notch!

you placed the legs on backwards. they're supposed to face towards the outside. the ballscrew placement is below the frame or on outside of the main frame, you have them flipped inwards
@TheBreadboardca

It was 8 years ago but from memory it was because I was not using ball screws and needed to keep its footprint to a minimum, If it is ever upgraded to ball screw then I will need to revers them. Nice to see folks still watching these older videos. Thanks

The lost bit on the tape kurospons to the thickness of the hook. So when you push against the element or hook it on. The numbers on the tape still fits.. So it's good that it moves. Sorry for my bad English. But I'm trying :)

In spring (2024) I bought the infiray p2, worked great for months then one day I wanted to test some cable on an inverter, takes photo's great, on screen 'preview' great, will not record video! well ok it records, but i get 4 images 1/4 sized images with incorrect color mapping so the recorded video is useless, an email has gone unanswered so I have had to install a screen recorder app on my phone to record the onscreen preview, works but i get all the icons etc over my recording. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nomvqXalma9kkKM

So while your camera is not a Hikmicro it looks physically similar and has the same size sensor. Based on your description of the error I am assuming while you are recording video it looks ok on the screen, it is when you review the footage later it is 1/4 up to the 4 images. if so this does not sound like a camera problem but a software / app problem. have you tried un-installing the app and re-installing it or on a different phone / tablet?

Inspirational video, thanks for uploading. I wonder if it is possible to use it with old TV-LCD-display-panels. Probably not suitable to power the backlit bulbs but maybe there is a way to replace the bulbs with LEDs. Could be a good source. Those panels are also LVDS but with a larger connector. Any thoughts on this?
@TheBreadboardca
@TheBreadboardca 3 ай бұрын
Actually, alot of none 4K screens are still able to be driven by these boards, the issues is if they have CCFD's which would require a separate driver, if LED then I think if you provide the right VED voltage/current it could still well work. the important bit is they still often use one of those LVDS connectors.

why use a card when the PI should be able to do it?
@TheBreadboardca
@TheBreadboardca 3 ай бұрын
for most LCD's the PI can not do it, it has an incompatible interface, the PI has DSI interface this port is a 15 pin interface that supports up to 2 data lane MIPI signals, most LCD displayed being reused are LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) and use a different protocol to talk to the display, therefor the need for a board that uses the HDMI output and converts that to an LDVS compatable signal.

I'm currently viewing this video on my secondary screen. which is a lcd salvaged from my old laptop using a board like that. works flawlessly. "special programmer" hah, check it very closely, you may need the software and for sure the hex file to reflash the board, but... it's just Rx Tx +5v Gnd pinout on the vga. I highly suggest you to buy some adhesive heatsink for the main chip of that type of board. never hurt if cooler, you know.

It could be that the part number is lasered off to either: 1) avoid IP infringement, 2) hide origin of product, 3) because it might be a conferfeit board.

This actually helped me a lot. I went through all me jumpers and soldered each one, mostly to practice soldering. This helped my circuits immensely. Now I crimp and solder my own, with 22g stranded tinned copper, and I've never had problems, even with high frequency circuits.

Thanks for the video. Short question. To remove an IC in case of a densely populated board, it's a bit hard to use a hot air gun without blowing off tiny neighbors. Would you recommend rework station tweezers together with pickup, or would the pickup rubber could melt die to the heated component? Thanks again.
@TheBreadboardca
@TheBreadboardca 4 ай бұрын
Yes, that is a recurring problem lol, The ways I have solved it in the past have been to use Kapton tape to "Tape" down surrounding components, this works very well, other techniques include adding tin shields between the target component and devices to be protected, especially things like connectors and other plastic parts that can easily melt if not shielded .
