It was a honor for me to escort Peter in Monterey at a conference when he was the guest speaker at the main event. Once you met him, you became a friend for life. RIP and thank you for the joy of your music with Peter and Mary.

The night I began transplanting herbs in my new greenhouse - wondering if they'd grow - hoping they were on PBS. It was as if God was saying I'd do fine - It was such a nice run 1991 to 2009 - customers - people who like to play in the dirt are the cleanest people I know.

Listening to this song today, in memory of Peter Yarrow. I saw him, and met him in 1981. He performed this song then, solo. He performed it differently. The title of pp&m box set is "Carry it on." Wonderful box set. They produced it.

Such an amazing song, and still so relevant. Just go through the comments, you will see every few years people saying the same. And here we are, November 2024, still remembering “this is the burden, this is the promise, this is why we will not fail”. I think people who have not been through hard times sometimes can lack this important perspective, the knowledge that, yes, times can be dark, but that just means we know we will not give up.

Second, third, fourth, and a millionth... never give up on life and liberty. There are many possible metaphors for this spirit, but perhaps my favorite comes from the autobiography of a 17-year-old German girl who on Christmas Eve of 1971 was the sole survivor of the disintegration of the airplane in which she;'d been a passenger. She woke up on the ground after falling 10,000 feet, still strapped to her seat, with no sign of anything around her but Peruvian jungle. Having learned from her parents that if lost in the jungle one should follow water downhill, she did so, with no food and minimal clothing, and eleven days later found the only three living humans for many more miles. Along the way she thought: "Is there any sense in going on? Yes, I said to myself, summoning all my powers, "you must keep going. Here you'll die." ("Als ich vom Himmel fiel," Juliane Koepcke)

Here we stand on the eve of an election that will determine whether our country descends into chaos and tyranny or whether we we achieve a new level of enlightenment. Whether we discover, finally, that a woman is just as capable, maybe more capable, of being our leader. We always knew this day would come. Let's face it with courage. Let's hold one another's hands and walk into the clear light of a new day.

My children and I had a Peter, Paul, and Mary CD that we played all the time. This was their favorite song. Now my babies are grown with babies of their own.
