Yea this new update broke my workflow completely. i cant even edit a lot of my variables without having to spend a long time declaring all of everything.

I couldn't get grid movement to work many examples rely on old variable system, so I'm stuck until some new example comes out. I tried other ways of doing it with no luck.

Hello. It's great project. I wish to Gdevelop finally make save/load in build. But I have problem in my game. When I save game by pressing numpad 1 - bbtexts linked to my objects are change their values to bbCodetext in object bbtext (before they show information about name and health of object). I tried to make bbtext variable named text becouse i though that save stored variable but that doesnt work. And bbtext over head of my objects stops moving over them after save. Please Help. Thank You.

Can you try 3D procedural generation? Minecraft terrain style or if you want more of a challenge, try Fortnite terrain style. I know fortnite doesn't have procedural generation but it would be cool to see fortnite terrain style with procedural generation!

I've set myself a rule that I don't update the engine until after the current project is done to avoid stuff like this. You can turn off auto updates in preferences.

@@moffubagguette7770 Thats probably because your using a "string" variable which is text, if you use a "number" variable it works fine on a "Repeat" event, i just tested it and it works fine, make sure your using the right type of variable :)

This is the worst update. I hate how the variable interface is now. I prefer the old way. Type global and I just get the global variable options. Now when I type global I have to go through the entire list of variables just to find the one I am looking for. The setup of the variables were fine. Multiplayer was an awesome addition but they didn't need to change the UX with the variables it was really unnecessary. They could have just kept the warning they had it place saying that the following variables are not declared and only shown in the object scene or global tab. I'm seriously thinking of going to another engine next year.

Oi amigo, sim sou portugues :) Eu removi o ultimo video porque estáva chateado com a situação e não achei que ia fazer nada de bom. Quanto aos tutoriais antigos, eles estão um pouco desatualizados quando toca a variaveis, mas o resto ainda está bom, a unica diferença é que agora vai ter que declarar as variaveis primeiro antes das usar, mas de resto está tudo igual. Se precisar de ajuda não hesite em perguntar :)

@@RetroGameLogic in my first project i made a shop in a new scene using global variable for the gold. being new i thought it was the same way for upgrading the damage as well. meaning global variable for damge is set to 2 deal 2 damage instead of one. its half way working but the damage bugs in the way that enemies on screen dont take any damage at all while new ones take the new damage. i was wondering if you could make an example on how to do something like that. im sorry its badly explained. been awake for 16 hours try to improve my project. in short think 2d shoter. click 1 button on screen and increase the damage bullet does.

Also the 'official' tutorial guy on the Gdevelop KZbin goes to fast over everything, I even feel he is skipping some steps. This gets worse for people like me who doesn't speak proper english. Those tutorials should be explained, not rushed.

@@moffubagguette7770 Thats probably because your giving some sort of "Health" to your enemies when the scene starts, so when new ones spawn, they dont get their "Health", you need to make sure that when you spawn an enemy, that on the same event you also give it everything the others had, like health and such. Hope that helped, if not, then try to give a bit more detail, its hard to trouble shoot issues like this without seeing whats going on :) You can also make a post here forum.gdevelop.io/c/help-for-games-creation/34 esplaining things and adding Screenshots of your events. To add screenshots on the forum is really easy, all you have to do is, look at your events in GDevelop, hit "PrintScreen" key on the keyboard, start a new Post on the forum and then "Paste" as if you were pasting some text and the image is uploaded for you! :)

Theres plenty of ways to do this and it depends on your game and set up. Without knowing more, a very quick and simple way to do it would be, when your character dies, do the action "Change Scene", then select the starting scene you want, that way when ever you die, it resets you to the start. Let me know if you need any other methods :)

If you use the desktop version, both online or downloaded version, you have no limits, you can anything you want, have as many scenes as you want without paying, the subscription is only to remove the logo you get when loading the game at the start, you dont have to pay. The mobile app is different, there is some payed features but i dont know much about it since i dont use it. As for the player just sitting there, you should look at their game examples to better understand how that works, or follow along with some guide to learn the basics :) I cant help you much without know more.

I wish they did not change for templates that were previously free. Even though a lot of templates, not a diverse enough set IMO. The pay for has gotten a bit out of control, especially when they removed the free filter in search (and no attrib). I hope they go back to the previous.

Oh btw I noticed you use a lot of the 200% magnicication because bad eyesight, did you know that you can change the event editor font size with + and - so you don't have to switch back and forth all the time. <3

Thats pretty cool! i didnt know that, but its more than seeing stuff bigger, it helps me focus since i dont have periferal vision, the + and - dont change the rest of the layout, so the magnifying glass is still nice when im going trough menus, but this is pretty awesome thanks! :D

I recommend though that if you face issues that you'd make reports of them to the forums or Github, instead of bashing in an instant something changes which isn't any bit constructive. There are issues yes, they are to be addressed in the future patches as these are a new feature.

I worked out the cause of the issue... When i made the Angled Platform "WoodenStairs", instead of deleting one of the points to make the angle, i moved it on top of another... so the platform was freaking out since it didnt know if it was concave or not... The moral is... dont work while sick lol

@@minedude467 Are you sure? did you follow the video guide? all you have to do is copy / paste it in your event sheet, at the bottom, and it will work. Try putting the CullBuffer value to -100, so you can see the culling happen in screen, the reason you cant see it, its because i put it to 300, so its off screen, thats how it should be, you dont want to see things being deleted as your playing. Try that and let me know...

@@RetroGameLogic I figured it out I just need to put all objects needed to be culled In the stayCulled group and put the once that doesn't need to be culled In the excludeCull group There is still a problem when ever I generate my world with my own code which involves an object to determine the position to start generating my world when I save state the object doesn't get loaded and I can't put it in the stayCulled group cuz it will not be sensed by the player The code I used is if the player x is greater than generator x - 200 Then it generates the terrain starting from the x position of the generator to x position of the generator + 768

Hey rgl, I’m Planning on making a mana knight playthrough tomorrow. Since it’s a short game, and I’m starting out with speedrunning some games from now on… I thought it would be a good idea to speedrun mana knight. So keep an eye out for that tomorrow. I’ll pump out the video pretty quickly, considering it’s just.. record game, upload recording, neuron activation. So yeah. I can’t wait to speedrun it!
