my locking lever sticks, thankfully its stuck on unlock! I came to see you disassemble a 6x7 but you took everything apart except the side of the camera with the shutter lock lever :(

Though common, the EEEE problem is easily cleared. It is usually related to the magnetic control of the shutter release. Usually, removing and replacing the batteries clears the message. Fire the shutter, if the problem reappears (and it probably will) repeat the cycle until you can get a run of shutter activations. Then place on high speed motor drive, and spend a while with your finger on the release. If this doesn’t work (be patient), you need to remove the front plate and use a magnetised screwdriver to demagnetise the shutter release mechanism.

I'm four years late to the party, but I can only agree with all you espouse - the F5 is a real monster; I'm tall & have large hands, so the weight issue (body only) does not apply; I also own F3's, F4's, a couple of FM2's & that often overlooked 'automaton', the FA; like you, I've never been attracted to non-marque lenses; I exclusively use Nikon glass - it never fails me. A very thorough overview - it's more than obvious you really know your way around Nikons; first time watching your channel, & I've just subscribed - Thank you, & a Happy New Year to you & yours !!

You can put modern button cell batteries in this, BUT... The voltage will be odd, and it'll impact the meter reading. One can offset this mis-reading by calibrating via ISO/ASA dial... 150-200 offset...

Enjoyed the review - many thanks.I tracked one down recently and am enjoying shooting my first film with it.Just wondering though if the viewfinder framing is the actual frame that is exposed to the film or it’s the total area the eye can see in the viewfinder. The yellow frame seems a very small area to me…

Thank you for this video, very informative! I've narrowed down my search and this is on the list. I'm just wondering what you'd think is a fair price for one these days...I've seen anything from £40 body only to £400 with lens (all claimed to be working) and that's not just on eBay but reputable stores too. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks again!

Love the video, I just got one of these working and I really love it. Took me cobbling together 3 almost working cameras to get one complete one, and every single one of them had perished light seals, but for a 45 year old camera? They really do last quite well if looked after!

I'm a big fan of my F4S, which I've had for a few months. Solid as a rock, great in hand and looks beautiful. It is heavy, but I have large hands and prefer hefty cameras. The focus isn't as good as later models and so I probably enjoy shooting more in manual. Also the continuous high setting is directly next to 'on' - I have a bad habit of leaving the camera switched on as I'm walking around with it, then mistakenly thinking I have switched it off and moving the dial without thinking/looking. Rather than being 'on' now, the camera is in continuous high mode and I shoot 2 or 3 images when I don't want to. I'm sure I'll stop doing that one day!

Hi, the film was quite expensive at the time and I found it hard to justify. The quality in terms of contrast and grain I did not find acceptable and have therefore not used it since. I went back to old faithful HP5, maybe the quality has improved since launch, might be fun to revisit it....

Great review! my grandparents just gave me this with another 3 lenses, excited to use it. quick question though, if i put in the film, take a couple shots but cant find anything else interesting enough to shoot is it fine to leave the film and batterys in for a while til i use it next ? or will taking the batterys out unroll the film and uncount the shots i took ?

@@wasabae.filmss Hi, it's fine to leave the film in the camera, the batteries can be left for a short while but remove them if not planning to use it for a while, the batteries are liable to leak quite easily and can wreck the camera...

Just got one. Still haven't shot with it. So, if I understood correctly, if the selection ring is in the white numbers (ASA) and the camera shoots, the cell is working and it's good to go with film, right? The cell would be dead if the camera doesn't fire.

You are not familiar with this flash. You said the flash is safe because you measure 25mV but that's because you have the remote sensor plugged in and in that case the shoe on the flash no longer has voltage.

Since its a film camera, you do need to get your film negatives developed wherein they usually do provide an option of digitalizing your images which transfers your image to jpeg format. Hope this helps!
