Zenit EM, another Soviet bargain?

I have two black bodied EM cameras and a black/silver Zenit E. One of the EM cameras has the Moscow olympic logo on it( on the Penta prism front) and the year of manufacture was 1979, the Zenit E has a different olympic logo on the silver top plate just below the rewind lever and it is dated 1978. I agree they are great value cameras if a tad heavy and LOUD!!........ Great vid as usual.

I'm lucky enough (lucky as I bought both in charity shops for not much) to have a Zenit E and an 11, 44M and a 44-2 lenses. To be noted is the need for good eyesight to see the tiny dots and markers. I always find myself having to re-learn how they work when I pick one up to use (every other year) as they are not as standard as western cameras. Always get good results from them though and they give the most satisfying 'clack' of the shutter triggering of any camera make. Size of pentaprism relates to field of view in relation to what appears on the exposed frame - now it makes sense !

That was my first decent camera given to me by my Dad in 1980, when he upgraded to an Olympus OM1n.

Hi Ian, they were very common entry level cameras if my memory serves me right, did you get given the OM or did he stay with it?

ASA and GOST are equal. (so they both share same scale on a dial)

they are not equal, search online for the conversion table, gost is 90% of the asa
