He’s actually single handedly eradicated genocide claims by himself. His explanation and reasoning of the deportation of Armenians is very well known among the academics actually. There’s also Russian factor that he overlooked but maybe next time. Good work 😊

I was in the USAF from 1976-82. I was at George AFB Victorville Ca. The base had a 'lounge' called The Way. It was nothing but a fundamentalist evangelical propaganda building. One of my squadron commanders had prayer circles in his office weekly. We were all encouraged to attend...forced really. I hated it

Lots of fantastic insight, ideas! Great comments on here highlighting problems but also some solutions. It puzzles me why smart, reasonable people can't sit down, find common ground and move forward with what they can agree upon. As a critique I dislike the hyper focus on race, these ideas are so foreign to me. I simply cannot relate to the idea that racism is embedded in policework. I was a police officer, am a member of a multi-racial family and all of my children are multi-racial. I was an instructor at DEOMI and was also a State Equal Employment Manager. I care deeply about these issues in society but In my time as a police officer I never saw evidence of race in any police actions I was a part of. In many of these police brutality cases, while there is little to zero question regarding police abuse, I have a hard time finding evidence of race as a motivator. I think claims of racist motivations have effectively become a dog whistle that blinds people with rage and prevents constructive efforts at cooperation. I think we are pre-programming our citizens as well as our officers to be defensive, suspicious and more prone to confrontation when we claim racism is the reason behind the lack of justice without evidence. I think this I am puzzled on the financial aspect (I consider myself to live month to month) but I would 100% be willing to pay MORE if it meant we were actually trying to help our incarcerated citizens a very good shot at reform (we need cybersecurity and IT professionals for example... why not get them education and certified)? The focus on police and DA's are truly misplaced I believe. We need better laws, better DoC. Melina is a bit of a hypocrite... seemingly wishing physical harm as a punishment when others who are convicted should in her opinion not have any punishment at all. In my opinion punishment should be acute and do no permanent damage. The main focus should be on individual correction and reform.

I agree with Gascon on many of the problems he identifies such as people deserving a chance at redemption. They absolutely do! That said I don't believe that the answer is on the enforcement or prosecutorial side. Their job and role seems black and white - enforce and prosecute the law, whatever that law may be. If we believe the laws are racist, unjust, if sentences are too harsh, antiquated, or nonsensical - CHANGE THEM! I believe the answers to the unjust system starts with our state and federal legislatures that write or keep laws which are unjust or which focus on punishment instead of on corrections. Our so called corrections system doesn't correct anything, they simply give our convicted criminals a timeout, in an environment that teaches them how to be "better" criminals and after they've been punished, we release these convicts with a scarlet "F" for felon on their background checks that make them virtually unemployable. Shame on our legislators and our prisons & jails. "Punishment" alone is not effective, and it is as discussed here overbearing in our society. We need corrections and reform, so focus on the legislatures and the prison and jail systems. Focus there. It seems to be what Gascon and others on this webinar are concerned with but refusing enforcement and prosecution isn't helping anyone, not the victims, not the public and it only emboldens criminals, encourages would be criminals. It is not the role of law enforcement and prosecutors offices to decide when and how to apply the law, it is simply to apply the law in their respective roles. Denying victims justice and helping criminals to avoid consequences, opportunity for corrections for their actions is NOT the way, let's fix the laws and our departments of corrections so that we are taking more appropriate action to make and keep our society safe. I George Gascon is not a leader you should give air time to. He's damaging real progressive efforts to make a difference in areas that can actually make a difference. He's all about him, all the time. He got a mickey mouse law degree from a school that was not ABA credentialed until decades later, he never practiced law of any kind, no court time whatsoever. He is careless with firearms (dropped his firearm in a jail restroom in Mesa AZ on more than one occasion), he made threats in the workplace, is racist as evidenced by hiring practices everywhere he has been as well as his now public racist, sexist drunken comments he made at a party with public servants in SF. He has feuded with people everywhere he goes and not just about policy... on personal matters. He was constantly rumored to be engaged in inappropriate workplace relationships in Mesa, AZ, he hired people from out of state (individuals who repeatedly failed basic state certifications to become certified police officers) and put them in the most senior positions within the department! He was fired from AZ essentially because he repeatedly misused his position, time and funds for political purposes that had nothing to do with his job. There were credible rumors that he had also used his position of privilege to get out of legal trouble in AZ. He's not all bad - he stood up against Joe Arpaio, shined some attention there that likely had a lot to do with the end of his agreements to enforce immigration law with the federal government as well as his ultimate removal from office...but his efforts cut us off from significant resources that we needed from MCSO and the federal government. It put the public and the city at risk. He also threw trash at protestors outside of his house while he was the DA up in SF. George Gascon is a person I would not trust in my house, to run a company and certainly not to run the DA's office when he doesn't even understand the law. He lacks in knowledge, he lacks in judgement, and he lacks in his ability to actually achieve anything. Los Angeles will celebrate when he loses this position and when he retires from public life.

How can Parker say all this after a year of rape, murder, mass murder of non-combatant civilians,? No mention of the wholesale war crimes, many of them on ethnic Russians in the regions Putin wants, a campaign of genocide, Parker still recites Putin's BS talking points. So genocide is OK because NATO is scary? Whatever Putin is paying Parker, it isn't enough. In truth, Parker believes the lies he's spewing and that is just sad.

How does Medea respond to the assertion that Russia's military action was actually justified? "As an anti-war activist, I don't think any invasions of other people's territory are justified." She seems to hold a position of pacifist absolutism. If you care about justice, as ICUJP claims to, then absolute pacifism is a morally shaky stance. When it came to defending the Spanish Republic against Franco's fascists (1936-39), by strict pacifist logic, American men and women should never have joined the Abraham Lincoln Brigade. They should have stayed home. And by that same logic, the Army of North Vietnam was not "justified" in coming to the aid of the National Liberation Front of "South" Vietnam. An eight year assault on the people of the Donbas in Ukraine, spearheaded by neo-Nazis and murderous ethnic cleansers, was more than sufficient justification for Russia to intervene on behalf of the victims. Would Medea have condemned the Sandinista Front of Nicaragua for taking arms against the US-backed dictator, Somoza? (Nothing I say can take away from Medea's admirable record of struggle for justice & peace.) Later in the Forum, another participant asked , "Do negotiations reward Putin for a brutal and illegal invasion?" Is the question meant to be taken seriously? If so, should any negotiations be POSTPONED until Putin has been arrested & tried & punished? Or, to be more realistic, should Putin just be compelled to admit his guilt and to apologize?

Thank you for this. As publishing films of bad cops protects us locally, and is being increasingly criminalized, Assange seeks to protect us globally, and is being increasingly per- & prosecuted. #SourceDocsProtectUs #MSMProtectsPower As a finalist for the Sakharov Prize, Assange has the right to be present at the award ceremony. Please bump that message! Chmagh and Namir Noor-Eldeen were the Iraqi Reuters journalists killed in the Collateral Murder Video. They were the 5th and 6th Reuters employees killed in Iraq since the 2003 invasion began.
